Right guys, i`m thinking we need to have a bit of a cruise round Sydders. A procession of 10 or so golfs would fill the void in my life at the moment.

I`m thinking a Saturday arvo, or a Sunday, I just want to get some idea of numbers and cars. I know lots of you, its just a matter of getting you together in the same place.

Any suggestions of dates and routes also gratefully accepted.

Right whos in? And what are you driving?

Sounds good to me, but depends when you're thinking of, my car should be on the road by 26th November, is that too late ??

Right the Sunday after the 26th November. A welcome to Australia for the Corrado cruise?

Need to go somewhere good though. Manly is too far, what about Bondi?

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Anyone else coming?

I reckon Al, Gaston, Brenton and Steve better have damn good excuses if they are not coming. Thats 6 with me and carpoid. Who else?

Come on boys a cruise round the city and then a gossip and a pose by the beach. Lots to see

yeh im in, i'll be back from QLD on the 16th of Nov so should be able to make it.
Hopefully i will be able to drive by then as i have an eye injury at present and am partially or you could say mostly blind in one eye. With luck it will be healed by then.

I will have to come up from the south coast but should be worth it. Somewhere easy to get to from my way would be good as i havent braved driving in sydney yet been avoiding it.

Right guys. Lets get some details sorted. SUNDAY 27th November is the day, thats three weeks away.

Lets not goto Bondi, as the traffic wardens are b*dards and there is no street parking.

Anyone know a good place to end up? I`m thinking we need admiring crowds, parking and a back road for the odd lil spin

DVR68U
09-11-2005, 01:02 AM
maybe if the city is to crazy and packed the boys might like a cruze down the coast ?lots of freeway straights to have rolling drags  but we have to get it sorted soon
cheers brenton

Hi,

I'm interested in comming too, however I have another engagement in the morning so it can't be too far away. Suggest somewhere that isn't crowded and has plenty of parking and is central. Beaches tend to be crowded - I've just been looking at my street directory, anyone know what bicentennial park at Homebush is like these days? I havn't been there since the Olympics but it could be a possibility. Another possibility is one of the inner harbour parks such as Balls head at Waverton or Brett park at Drummoyne.

I only have 37kw to play with so us diesel drivers tend to have to allow plenty of time to get somewhere....

Golf Loon
09-11-2005, 09:51 AM
At last, some other input. Homebush is easy to get to, but is really just a big carpark. The other area sounds good, I was thinking Canada Bay or somewhere around there. Might have to go on a recon misssion.

21-11-2005, 05:40 PM
Hey all,

Just thought id welcome myself to the club :D

I could be up for the cruise if Brenton twists my arm enough, otherwise i may just tag along with him.

as for places to cruise to, its a little far for us south westerners but palm beach etc is a nice drive, what about wisemans ferry etc, make a whole day of it not just a few hours thing?

Maybe we could organise some rolls, cans of drink and some snags and have a BBQ at the destination?

Just a thought...

Ok glad to see you guys missed me.

I have stickers aplenty. Cheers Peter. Everyone who comes on the cruise gets a sticker.

Good to see you onboard Scotty and yes a BBQ and some snags sounds like the GO.

I think we should meet at a Maccers somewhere central like on King Georges Rd and then Cruise to one of the beaches which has BBQ setup and parking.

Talk to me guys, I want your ideas too.

Hi,

I have just been reminded that I have to attend my children's orchestra concert that day until 4.00pm, so if your destination is not too far away from where I am (Chatswood) and it's not too late I'll come to the destination...

static1800
23-11-2005, 04:53 PM
I don't think i can make it now, I have a prior engagement on friday night and am going to have to drive back home that night for lack of places to stay.
which means a 2.5 hour drive each way, I don't really want to come up twice in one w/e with the price of fuel and all don't think i can manage it.

Will make sure i can come upto the next cruise or maybe you can all head down my way there are some nice places down in the shoalhaven or even wollongong.

OK Guys this is it...

THIS SUNDAY 27TH NOVEMBER

Meet at McDonalds on Canterbury Road at Hurlstone Park at 12NOON. Leave at 12.30

Then we will cruise down Canterbury Road towards the City and Glebe. A cruise around a few harbour suburbs and some parking and admiring.

Then onto the Great Western Freeway to Canada Bay turn right onto Burwood Road and a BBQ at Bayview Park overlooking Hen and Chicken Bay. I envisage leaving there at around 4-4.30.

If anyone has any refinements to this plan, let us know asap. I reckon I can count on 10 cars, but more would be awesome.

Come on Guys I`m depending on your support 3 of us are leaving Camden early, so the least you can do is meet us nearer the city after your lie ins. No excuses lads, some of you will be getting phonecalls.

Everyone who comes will get a vwwatercooled sticker 8)

See you there, dont forget your cameras.

I`m glad that the 4th is working out for most of you. I hope that means there will be a big turnout. Tell everyone you know with a Watercooled VW between now and then. My count so far is 10-15, but 20+ would be awesome.

I just sold My Mk2, but the new owner is bringing it along, so it gives me 2 days to fix the Jetta   I`ll be there though guys, If i have to stick a carby on it. Got a few wiring ideas though, will let you know.

OK fellas. Those of you that dont know how to get to the rendezvous point, here it is.

See you there at 12 Midday Sunday 4th December

M5 Motorway going West from the city, come off after the long airport tunnel at Kingsgrove. Turn Right.

Go up Kingsgrove Rd until it meets Canterbury Rd, Turn Right

The Macdonalds is about 3 kms down Canterbury Rd on the Left at Hurlstone Park. Watch out for the speed camera about 2km down the rd.

Did anyone besides Brenton and I see that smashed Mk2 cabrio? It looked like it got T-boned by this beema, was a real shame looked in good nick too.

Quite an eventful day for me.

I was up till 2.30 the nite before trying fuel systems on the Jetta. Couldn`t even get KJet to work, so ended up making up an adaptor plate and whacking on a Mk1 Carby. It wasn`t running too good, but at least it was there.

The Jetta blew a radiator hose 1km from the meeting place at maccers, so I had to jump in the VR6 and go without it.

The car park at macdonalds.

Then Steve turned up, fortunately with a spare radiator hose and helped do a roadside tuneup and hose change on the Jetta. Got it going and she was on the road again.

Then we went to Glebe point Road and parked down by the harbour in a long line, much to the amazement of passers by.

and then we went for a cruise up oxford st and down to bondi and clovelly.
Some speeding dubs.

http://xs58.xs.to/pics/05491/P2170048.JPG (http://xs.to)

Was great being in a pack of watercooled dubbers.

Golf Loon
05-12-2005, 07:22 PM
Yeah Steve`s Passat is the badboy. It has a 1.9 motor in it too!

I think the final Rollcall was :

1975 2 Door Swallowtail, 1976 Passat, 1979 Mk1 4 Door, Three Mk2s and a Mk2 Jetta, Mk 3 VR6, Audi TT and an R32. There were also a few randoms who tagged along at different times and a lost Corrado! And several late withdrawls who did not have cars ready. You know who you are!

A good effort Guys, 4 Mk2s in one place in Oz is no mean feat and there would have been a 5th if channel 10 hadn`t dropped a camera on it!

I reckon we do it again in a couple of months with an even better turnout.
