Hey folks, just trying to put the trim back in my car that I've cleaned up and I don't seem to be able to pull back the seat clip back from the tensioner as its completely retracted into itself

Is there some way that I can fix this, or have I broken something and is the tensioner a write-off because I don't know how to remove a handful of bolts, or is there something I've missed?

Thanks in advance!!!

It needs to be at the correct angle. Put it where it needs to go and place the bolt or something in the hole, then gently pull the belt in the direction it would normally go.

Thanks Matt, I'll have a go at that today.

Well MK3'ers here is a nice tip for you all to remember when removing rear seat belts.

NEVER LET THEM RETRACT COMPLETELY

Otherwise they lock over themselves and will not move, I even took one apart and removed the coil but its still stuck, must be a safety thing. You ought to jam them in place with something or stop the runner with a few lengths of tape just to add some friction but don't let them retract completely.

So yeah, I think you'll be hearing from me soon Matt...

this is the case with most retractable belts. To release the belts they need to be able to retract a little bit which obviously you cant do if theyre retracted all the way.

When removing them I have gotten in the habbit of tying them in a loose knot. That way they cant retract.
