Mmmmm very nice! I think I like the new front now - it didn't look entirely convincing in the first photos. In person they're much better, especially the Scout (which I feel needed the facelift most). Does it have the folding-mirrors?

No, the current Face Lift RS's that just came into the country dont have that feature - strange really when the standard Face Lift Octavia's do have the feature. Might be a question worth asking Skoda Aus to clarify why the Rs range doesnt have this feature ??

I was told that the FL RS's were going to have folding mirrors operated from the key. Is that not correct?

Doesn't look like it, I just went out and re-checked on my RS, I believe it's part of the normal lock/unlock procdure with the standard FL Octavia's, but i also tried holding the button down for the window feature ( drives the windows up or down ) and that works on the RS, just nothing with the mirrors.
Like i said I might throw this question at Skoda Aus and see what response i get.

In fact I just sent them an e-mail now, lets see if they reply quickly - then i can add a response to the "Customer Service" thread also - ha ha ha ha ha

Sorry, I meant electric-folding mirrors.

dazag - the folding function should next to the heat function on the mirror controls, or yes, if you hold lock they should fold-in (like the Superb).

The Skoda Aus brochure said that the RS/Scout do have them as standard so maybe they're lying?

Yep. Seen several and driven a couple. Tried the auto park feature, that is one scary piece of technology it just does not feel right (but it works great).

Does the Octavia have the parking option....i remember the new model was supposed to but I swear I didn't see it as an option there when I last looked. I was wanting to try it with a Tiguan but never got around to it.

I don't believe that it's and option on the Octavias. It requires front and rear parking sensors plus another sensor in the guard in front of the front wheel on each side. The guard mounted sensor is used to detect a suitable space as you drive along the road by bouncing a signal off the curb. The electronics involved are fairly sophisticated so I think it's only a high spec model option at this stage. Give it 5 years and all cars will have it.

Great clip! Better than most of the official promo stuff because you actually get to see the car! It is something I can show friends at work when they ask about mine. A segment on storage facilities would be good, although could go for 20 minutes alone although with your editing it would be a good addition. Looking forward to seeing the next installment, on a close circuit track of course......

Yeah I might end up doing 2 clips - one to show things like storage and build quality etc, but that will be after I do my "artsy" one which is turning out to be a bigger production the more I do the story board up. Night time shooting for most of it, in various places and scenes, various car angles both when driving and static, and depending on the "approval" from the wife I might take it the the track day/night at eastern creek in November for VWWatercooled forum members. Could get all sorts of good night time footage. I wont give the story line away but watch this space for between now & Christmas.
Might even see if Skoda Aust would be interested in it...........

Judging by the picture title it's a Skoda Joyster and judging by the picture content it's at a car show and judging by the styling it's a prototype or show only car to guage public reaction.

We finally took ownership of our Skoda Scout. Ordered on 1st Aug, 2010 and delivered 25th Jan, 2011. The Scout was aboard the DON PASQUALE.

It's not bouncy at all considering the 32mm drop in front and 30mm rear. But compared to stock I guess it is a little bouncy. Handling is greatly improved and no more diving under heavy braking.

The A4 rims look good on it! So many nice Audi rims around on their cars at the moment...want a set so much!

nothing like some DIY to make it a reality. I picked that set up on ebay for $150. Spent 5 nights after work and $90 on paint. The big bonus is that they are real ronal wheels - not the lightest, but they are very strong rims, even with all the gutter rash on them they were dead straght - no wobbles or warps. Aftermarket and replica rims are always so fragile and for me atleast, have caused me endless headaches chasing vibrations at highways speeds. never again.

The cost of the tyres doesnt count, ofcourse ;-)

are these 17s or 18s? thought audi wheels didn't have correct offsets?

they are 17x7.5 ET56, the stock 16's that I had were 16x6.5 ET50 (but with balooning 215/60 oversize tyres).

I'd say with a 7.5" rim you could go to ET60 but thats about it. I think pretty much any 5x112 audi rim you'll find will be et56 or less, so you shouldnt have a problem.

I think about the widest you would fit under there without any modifications would be 8.5 with ET44 ish.

which are ET50 so you'd need some small spacers (5-6mm) but I reckon they would look the business.

Black wheels would look nice on a white wagon but given the large panels especially on a wagon, you'd might want to opt for wheels with more or thicker spokes so that both parts are in harmony. Maybe something like VMR wheels? If I were in the market for a RS wagon, I'd go black with the oettinger wheels. Simple but real nice.

Oh yes that black VMR wagon is what I am modelling mine (well Mrs's) Skoda on :)

Although I am reluctant to pay fro VMR wheels as I reckon they will get rashed within hours of fitment.

Yeah... Its usually where my camper trailer lives, but its at a friends place due to my vRS having no tow bar to bring it home! Grr!

Its been raining here - as I'm sure you full well know - for a good week or more, so haven't had a chance to mow it yet. It'll just grow back again anyway.
More often than not, I've been tempted to just concrete it. Ugh!

Nightshaded the headlights. Less light coming from them, but will upgrade to 55W HID's to negate the impact.
Either that, or clean off the tint from the bit the light comes from. Will look a little weird, but will have full headlight performance.

Also - If you're considering doing this, I recommend not using 6000K HID's. They look more like Narva UltraBlue's... And perform about the same, too.

When I find the time, I'm going to try and find some Eyefinity wallpapers featuring Skoda's. :)

I wanna tint the grille in the same stuff, give it the black/chrome look. Same as the Fabia Monte Carlo. I've decided I like black chrome. :D

I rather like 6000K, actually. It gives off a nice light.
With the tint, though, its horrible. The DRL's make better headlights than these. Even with the 55W ballast on them.
When I build up the cash, I'm going to try and get two pairs of 5000K HID's to replace these ones. All 55W. The projectors are actually very dim, compared to the high beams. (When using same power/colour bulb/ballast)

Polished the Wagon last weekend..... its an 07 and I think had never been done before at all - roof and bonnet covered in etchings and scratches.

I managed to get most of the bad stuff out (missed a few bad scratches on the doors but hey, don't want to have all my fun at once eh?), and the car is looking much more respectable.

Also, got tints last week. Sheesh! Talk about lots of glass - the car had 35% on it already but I thought it was just some lame dealer tinting because it didnt seem very dark... so the tint man recommended I go to 20% which looks great and I'm very happy with the result:

I'm blacking out all the chrome/silver bits.

I used *wince* Commodore-spec Nightshade spray.
Did it with the spray to see how it would look... And it looks bloody fantastic.
Am still trying to find a tinting specialist that'll tint them with film. The local guy won't touch it.
Almost considering buying some 50% off eBay and doing it myself, but not 100% confident with that...

Went down to my local Super Cheap Auto's today, to see what they had in the range of UHF whips. Just in case I ever need a replacement.
They have 3 types in store. Two are the same length, just different brands, and another one is about 1m long.

So, anyways, I ask the clerk if I can take it out of its packaging and attach it to the car, if it'll fit.

I have had my wheels treated and sealed with the Nanolex stuff by a great guy from Nanotek car cleaning.

He cleans the whole car with a great range of products that protect the paint and keep the dirt from adhering too much...

Also, I had the wheels treated in a coating that is invisible and lasts for 6 months.
It means that the dirt and brake dust do not stick, and just rinse off with a bit of a hose down!...

Call Ian from nanotek Camden...great bloke. tell him you know me. (black Tiguan, White polo GTI and now Ocatvia)...he will look after you.

thanks mate - Yes the wheels I do rather like - when I first got the octy I just knew the audi wheels would look good on it so I started looking for a set. There used to be a black A4 wagon with these wheels parked near a station along my daily commute, and it looked the sex.

thanks :) I'm lovin' it so far.... Im tempted to tint the windows a little more, but Im not in a hurry to do anything to it. Its got everything I need. Im planning to go to the next Skodafest; got the Roomie 4 days after the last one, so just missed out!

Love the Roomster, it's a great little car...a dark tint looks good on the Roomster, blends well with the black plastic around the back doors.
Plus it keeps the sun out of those huge windows!

Its in Slovakian or Czech (don't speak either so I don't know) but get some good vision of the MkIII.

I especially like the guy employed to turn the turntable that the car is on...simply clever! If it were an Audi or VW launch no doubt it would have had a motorized turntable that would have cost as much Skoda's yearly marketting budget :)

Big fan. I think they've done almost everything right here without messing with the existing formula too much. With the increase in size it does make the side profile look more like the current Superb combi with the arching roofline but if was in the market for a new car in the next 6 months this would be in the short list for sure.

Your just as well off with those thin wire antenna as you'll get better fuel economy because they catch much less wind and they don't wave around in you vision. Adding an artificial ground plane under the wire antenna will extend your range too.

And if those 2 antenna on the window are both mobile phone, I hope you know how this changes the radio pattern. If they are hooked up together, they will extend your range forward and back but reduce it on the sides so while your pointing toward a tower, it'll work better but if your driving and turn, it'll work less.

I had an elevated feed before, but really don't like the look of them. Eventually going to put something together with a little 2dB whip for around town stuff, nice and neat and small. Probably get something a little longer for the long highway cruising. :)

Maybe we need a seperate thread for antenna discussion. The glass mount will be really bad for reception. You loose too much through the glass. A good whip is all you need. Antenna design is worth so much more than transmission power. I use a Yagi antenna to pick up 0.2w UHF signal over 5km. I just love it how some westies and there B&S utes with all the big white antennas cant reach 2.5km with 5w transmission.

Yagi would be a silly idea for a motor vehicle though. For a car I like a good 6dB. 9dB is just a little too flat, especially around the East coast of Australia. 3dB is more for really hilly or big buildings but 6dB is good all round.

Those thick white antenna are good on base stations where you have cockaoos chewing on them but not on cars. They are good for their ridgitity but then people put springs on the bottom.

Thin whip is good in cars because they catch less wind. Centre of the roof is best, then gutter followed by bonnet.

The glass mounts to their job for the local farms (South/East of Bowral) and campsites I've been to, and they're a little more appropriate for things like the VW nationals and drive days.

If there were some way to embed an aerial into the Octavia's roof rails, I would be all over it!

Just finished washing and waxing the new wagon. Very impressed by the condition of the paint at delivery, not a single scratch or swirl, and only a few spots of rail dust and some residue from the shipping material tape. Just gave it a good clean, clayed a few areas and then two coats of wax.
