I was told by my dealer today that my car as been on the ship for the last two weeks. He gave me my VIN number but it doesn't show up on the tracking site.
Never mind, at least my car will be here very soon.
Ordered in July and delivered end of October. Not bad. As promised.

Did you get it in writing?

Get what in writing? I saw the details on his screen. I just emailed him to check the VIN he wrote on the back of his business card.

If you have an email or something that you can physically show to them, then you can demend that delivery takes place when it was meant to.
I would have made them print out the shipping details and the exact date of arrival and when i could pick it up, that way you have some documentation if anything oges wrong/they sell your car off and tell you it was delayed etc.

I still have some faith left in humans (foolishly). So I will take his word for it. This is my second new car with him. I'm quite sure he wants me to continue to be a customer with him. :emo_baghead:

Actually the person who sold me the car wasn't in today so I was able to speak to his boss. Took him 30 sec to find out the location of the car and VIN number. Not happy with my guy. He needs to visit customer service classes badly. I remember, in the past VW used to send me surveys after I bought my POLO GTI off them. I will not be as forgiving this time round.
See the location of the ship:

Mine finally arrived in Aus two weeks ago this Monday. Bit dissapointed it has taken so long to get to the dealer, especially since it is only about 2km from the port.
Amazingly, while driving to work this morning (I usually take the train but couldn't be bothered for some reason) I saw a small transport truck loaded with three vehicles, one of which was a brand new black Tiguan still with the protective plastic on it headed towards my dealer. I can't beleive I saw that. If I left home a few seconds either way, I would have missed it. I havent been notified yet but I am pretty confident, given the time, that it was mine.
Woo hoo, the countdown is seriously on now.
Congrats mate.
I called my dealer this Friday and was told that my car has been shipped out. I also got the VIN number from him. I did a search on Wallenius Wilhelmsen website (putting the VIN# in Cargo ID field) but no records found. Umm, does that mean my car is probably not being shipped by the company? Any ideas? It'd be great to know where my car is at the moment.
Thanks

I believe it is still at the docks and not on boat yet. My dealer told me that mine will be on the boat which is due to sail on 19th September. He will also give me more details once this happens. Your car could be on the same boat as mine. I ordered mine from Essendon VW.
Thanks. That could be the reason. I will check after 19th then. I ordered via Barloworld VW by the way. Cheers

I was told by the Manager of the dealership that my car was already on a boat. Upon checking with the shipping company, it turns out that the car is still sitting on the docks. I don't think the left hand knows what the right hand is doing at my dealership. In fact, yesterday I was told that my delivery will still happen mid October. I just don't believe what they are saying anymore. They will tell you anything just to shut you up. The frustrating thing about this is when you actually do go and pick up your Tigga, all is forgotten and you are so happy again with your dealer.

Yes the Middle October is what the computer says just like my dealer told me, but he said that the people who enter the information dont know what they are doing. My dealer is a bit conservative and estimates that the car will be ready for pick up either end October or 1st week November. I will set my expectations at November.

When I was waiting, I tried putting the VIN into the Wallenius whatsit site too, and it didn't come up. I could only track it via the ship it was on. I think you have to be a dealer and have a log on to get into the details with VINs etc.
Once the ship docked it took an extra two weeks for all the unloading, red tape, compliance blah blah and all that to be completed before I could pick it up. Apparently thats the norm, but can take up to three weeks.
So there's hope yet!

FINALLY! My VIN number has been listed on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen website tracker. My car is on the appropriately named ship "Glorious Leader". It will dock in Melbourne on the 20th October. Add another two weeks and I should have my car early November. My dealer still insists on a late October delivery. You gotta love'm.

I got my VIN and checked the tracking site but found no match at all. The car had definitely been shipped and arrived in Oz on the 31st of August but for whatever reason, I could never find it on the tracking site.
Was told today to expect delivery next Monday. That means from arrival to delivery will be three weeks.:bangheadwall:
