Awesome day, the F-86 was superb after the rebuild. If you haven't been to Temora for an airshow you owe it to yourself to get there. It is fantastic to see these planes that are part of our Aussie history still alive and fully operational.
I don't know anywhere else where as a member of the publc you can get this close to a ready to rock F-18.

Thats awesome!! The CA-27 Sabre looks beautiful, and its good to see that the put a second seat in it. That Boomerang looks awesome, and is that Boston behind the Sabre??

I have lived close to Air Force bases all my life, and been to a few air shows, and never get bored of the smell of AvGas or AvTur, and love the crackle of a Merlin engined Spitfire, or a huge Radial engine.
I would love to see a B29 or B50 fly though, with their 28 cyl turbo/supercharged engines.

sad my sisters 21st at wagga wagga ended up being this coming weekend and not the one just gone - i was so annoyed not to be able to kill 2 birds with one... well you know.

nice pics snowy - thanks.

we were out there in May for the flying weekend and then the highlight for me was seeing a Vampire fly..... but the Sabre would be really something! there's something that just warms my heart about the early centrifugal flow jets that just makes them seem so darned..... amazing. such an in-elegant bit of engineering, but amazing in its own right, and just fantastic to see in service.

i can imagine Frank Whittle thinking.... "now all we have to do is make a great big turbocharger and run it on kerosene...."

:-)

and then came the sabre - lightyears ahead back then... and still so far to go... just great!

Hahahahaha, and then the Aussies went and put a Rolls Royce Avon and 2 30mm cannons in it, and had to redesign 70% of the aircraft...Thats like putting a VR6 in a MK1!!

The Australian Avon Sabre is still the most powerful production version of the Sabre produced.

I was initially planning to go but then had some real estate issues to sort out. Was looking forward to some happy snaps with my L series telephoto because I have hardly used it. Oh well, there'll be more days... Have been before and it's truly an AMAZING day out. Looks like the weather held out too!

GREAT pics bud... Thanks for sharing.
