Stumbled across this in my morning browsing:
Looks like for 2011 the Tiguan will be getting a minor facelift to match it up more closely with the updated Touareg.
http://download.autobild.de/dl/574785/ABAR09_08_001-001_Titel.pdf
It contains a picture of the facelifted tiguan (more new model polo front end)
Also has the facelifted toureg, polo suv and amarok.
I was waiting to see what the facelift would look like, i like it more than the model we have now, i will be waiting for this one to come out!

Interesting that they have not changed the door handles to the Golf 6 type.
Side mirrors have larger LED lights too. Main difference is smoother line across the face and FOG lights incorporated with turning lights. Maybe they might use this facelift to add a 125Kw Diesel??

Looks nice. I prefer it's slightly angrier look, and the foglight setup is much nicer looking, but I'm not sure how practical it is from a stone damage perspective.
Good find though!:cool46:

I was thinking the same thing as Actra when i first saw it.
Looks angrier and the foglights look great there.
Just needs a coat of laminex over them to protect the lights from stone chips and you would be set, otherwise just remove the assembly if it is just a foglight.
Nice find.
I was thinking the same thing about the handles. They should have swapped those handles in the mag for the chunkier ones on the MK6. I don't mind the MK6 shape but the one thing that looks a bit out of place is the handles imo. Could have been a bit more slimline.

There already IS a 125kw diesel, it's just not available "down-under" to date.

Yes I know Derek, Like in the US they don't get a Diesel I beleive, but that might have changed. Personally I have got used to the 103kW and hopefully it will get better once it hits 20,000kms. Just that the extra edge of 22kW would come in handy for stuff all extra fuel usage. Also the weight of the Tiguan I reckon deserves the 125kW to lug it around. I guess VW Aust will bring the TDI 125 if they can sell enough, also a reason to make us Tig fans trade up after 3 years. I wonder if this model will hit our shores in 12mths time?

Or they might go for the twin turbo 2.0 TDI that's coming for the facelift Transporter (130 Kw and 400Nm at only 1,500rpm, and 7sp DSG available).

NOW you're talking !!! though I suspect that the impressive fuel consumption figures might just start to suffer !!

It could be actually better for fuel economy.

Just stumbled across this when i was browsing the web:
And what lies in store for the VW Tigaun?
In 2009, the Tiguan will get a seven-seat option, but only for the Chinese market – the rest of us will have to wait until 2013 when the replacement seven-seat Tiguan arrives. In the meantime, the Tiguan will undergo a refresh in early 2011 to keep it up to date – expect less chrome, uprated specification and some new engines to keep sales buoyant.
Tiguan for the win!

I can just imagine what the people who say the boot is too small NOW will be saying with two extra people stuffed in there !! I find it pretty hard to believe frankly, imo even a vehicle the Touareg's size is pushed with seven seats !! Why would you bother, if you've got that many people to move get a people mover not a small suv !!

I was thinknig the same thing NZ.
It would take the place of the boot and you would probably need a trailer and the roof pod to store anything, thus making it not worthwhile.
I don't think it is a viable option but the extra engine variants and the facelift are welcome in my books :)

Just remember folks this is just a photoshop image not the real thing although probably 80% likely to be.

All compact 7 seater SUVs (look at the US 7-seater RAV4 for a close comparison) are 200mm or more longer than the Tiguan. So the Chinese version (have you seen the Chinese market version of the Passat?! Awful) would be a local stretch. I can't see VW spending engineering $ to fill a market need that they closed the door on when they first designed the Tiguan.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I thought it better than starting a new one.
I have heard today that a new configured Tiguan could be at the earliest October 2010. Given that I am now wondering how long I might need to wait to get the 2011. Has anyone heard anything more definite about release, specs etc?

Nothing been released at Geneva Motor Show as yet re Tig facelift but if goes ahead you think it would be a MY11 model which would start production around June/July this year.

Apparently the new tiguan model isn't due until 2015.
There was a press release on vortex that i found earlier that showed future VAG models.

The facelift will only come when demand for the current models drops, otherwise, why bother with the facelift.
There is still a 5-6 month delay for the tiguan to be built and delivers and last month sales for VWAus the Tiguan outsold the Golf so why fix what isn't broken is their idea i reckon.
If it does happen, it won't be until midway through 2011 at the very least.
There haven't been any concept pictures or spy shots of an actual facelifted model that i have found.
You would think Geneva motorshow would be the place to show off your new model as well as it is the biggest motorshow of the year along with Frankfurt.

So you think it unlikely they will introduce a Track and Field option, or a wolfsburg or the R?

We may get the track and field but that isn't a facelift per se, its just a modified front end already available in most other countries.
We won't get the Wolfsburg or the R-Line as they only get them in Euro/North America.

:duh: Damnit, this is exactly what I was afriad of! I'm going to start a new thread - "Tigs are no damn good"!

Hate to tell you but the R-Line has been in NZ for months, must just be Ausi who've decided not to get any !!
