Very late last night on the freeway, got the Mr's XR5 with mods running next to my GTI (APR'd) both in 3rd gear going the same speed... approx 60km/hr starting point, lets see who pulls harder (crude test but fun) .... GTI won hands down :D big smile on my face... Mr slightly grumpy ;)

Well done! Thought they would be about the same, i guess the polo is lighter.
Mine pulled 2 cars in 2nd gear from an 3.2lt M3 a few weeks ago, but he pulled me in at the end of 3rd :)

oh wow, he must've felt jipped! lol
i also had some fun with my friends Jap spec s15 with 180kw (no i don't condone street racing, but when i first got the car i was foolish and naive :D) in 2nd gear and i got a car length ahead - then on 3rd gear i was pulling and i'm not talking BS!
Just wanna prove that the APR'd polo's have some serious potential! very surprised...
does anyone have figures in regards to how fast a apr'ed polo is quater mile and 0-100???
would love to know!
i did a test on my stock polo gti 0-100 and i got under 7.5secs

Only problem is, that while 0 is 0 on the Pog's speedo, 100 ain't 100...more like 93 or 94, according to my GPS :(
IMHO, a better test of relative gains (short of a dyno or 1/4 mile times -- each of which has its detractors  ) is to test rolling acceleration between a stock and a modded car.
On a closed road and in safe conditions, of course:
indicated 60 to indicated 90 -- 3rd gear
indicated 70 to indicated 100 -- 4th gear
indicated 80 to indicated 120 -- 5th gear

I'm just up the road at Bris and wouldn't mind a little coastal drive in the near future (my current contract finished on the 27th of this month).
