great turn out guys.. although very unorganised argh! but great never the less, we did a runner at mt keira for the beaches at stanwell..was getting a tad hot! 41+ the temp hit!

good meeting everybody and seeing all the nice rides.. hopefully another one soon and we can all keep together this time lol

Just got back. Phew, bet no-one got as sunburned as me!

I counted 32 at KKs and we picked up 3 more along the way, so 35 at Liverpool and Probably 25 by Mt Kiera:?

I reckon there were 5 Mk1s

4 Mk2s including 2 16vs

And a good representation of all the others.

Next time we will have maps and designated meeting points.

Classic moment for me was Beau showing the highway patrol motorcyle cop his American passport and the cop deciding it was too much paperwork to book him for unrepaired damage on his car.

The 20 dubs that stopped at the side of the freeway in protest may have helped too :D

Big shout out to Tim for coming along, sorry we lost you on
the way. Catch you in Melbourne.

Some nice cars and met some great new people. Nice to see some owners of newer VWs that did not have huuuge egos :)

A swim in the surf and some beers and dubs at the beach, doesnt get much better in my book.

Great day guys. Awesome turnout - 32 - heaps better than we expected at the start. Especially in the heat. Well done:)
How are we standing in the record's department. BTW?

Good to put names/faces to logins (which will get well an truely scambled in my mind in a day or so, but that's life...)

I didn't actually think that the heat was all that bad, despite no aircon.
No overheating either - who said that Golfs had lousy cooling systems?

Still, I'm sure everyone would vote for cooler weather:)

It was really good to see such a great representation from all marks of Golfs - and they were all there. In fact, of all the various permutations (and we know that there are lots, right?), I think we were only missing a MkI 16v (Matt will rectify that by the 'Nats) and a 3 door MKII (ok, hard to find).

The various stopping points along the way were a great idea - allowed everyone to regroup, plus take lots of good photos!
As Matt said, an improvement might be to let everyone know where these were ahead of time, and maybe publish a rough route, but all things considered, it worked pretty well.

Awesome cruise guys, i think that we have to give a hand to our organiser Matt Loon and Matt (Static1800) with coming up with the thread that started it all.

The day was beautiful for a cruise would have been a tad better if it was a bit cooler but can't complain. Our special guest appearance Tim (you will be receiving a award in the mail - longest travel to be part of the cruise :))

Everyone had some awesome rides. Thanks guys for making such a big event one which I will remember awesome. George loved those deeeeeeeeeeeeeep dishes mate they were fulisik ;) Also alot of the mk2's that were there.

Thirty-two cars, magic. We had to keep stopping so that we could keep together and I thought this was a good idea, let everyone regroup so we could go again, so good work unlike the guys that sped off if they had stopped would have still been part of the group, wasn't a race to Mt Keira ;)

Then we lost of few :???: no idea back to Sydney I heard.

Got burnt like a crisp fantastic for the neck PAINNNNNNN!!!!!!!

Awesome work guys thanks for the company and as Matt said see use at the Nationals!!! Hopefully we can get about 30 cars there!!!

thanks everyone for a great day. the little diesel used a tad on $40 to go the distance and back, the return trip taken through the national park at a fun pace - this is a road we need to criuse on in the future, providing people have enough suspension travel for the crappy bits..

if anyone sees an AU falcon the looks like it should be white and is actually a sooty black, thats our fault. he insisted on speeding ahead every time we went to overtake on the freeway. after cleverly boxing him in behind us using a truck, mike gave it the boot full for a full 20 seconds, sending billowing clouds of smoke back to engulf the falcon. he obviously didnt realise he was trying to race a 54hp diesel....

a fun day - more cruises are definately a good idea. lets here some suggestions.... what about putty road?

Some people insisted that the cruise was a race, first one to Mt Keira then some dissapeared back to Sydney, they missed out on a excellent day.

Sorry for bailing early on but after driving up from melb and only getting 1 hours sleep in the car i was knackered and not really concentrating as well as i should. I went and found a hotel and got some much needed sleep!
But yeah. was nice to put some faces to the names. U will have to excuse me not being a bit more social. I was just a bit dazed and confused hehe.

Ill be sure to try and make it up there again in the not too distant future. hopefully with a bit more time to spare.
