Yesterday 5:20ish, electric blue (do they come in any other colour?) Mk IV or V R32 (didn't get enough time to see it properly), corner of Hackney Rd and North Tce Kent Town.
Within a minute I also saw a MKV TDI, a MK III and a late model Jetta (I think), then a few minutes later, parked on Bundy's Rd North Adelaide, a black MKV GTI .
VW saturation!!!!

A bunch of VWs on the way home tonight, including a black MK5 GTI with P plates that floored it off the line on Belair Rd, and another black MK5 GTI parked directly outside my house, which then took off in a more sedate fashion.
That plus the usual gaggle of golfs, a passat or 3 and a toureg. (And some aircooled beetles).

today saw a silver MK4 Gti with 5 spoke dishy kind of rims on the upper level of marion shopping centre, near the Hungry Jacks/Primo enterance... pretty sure it had a sticker of some sort on the top of the back window as well but didint get a good look as i was in the work van...

saw a red MK4 'rally' edition in the airport carpark, was dumped pretty low, had the anniversary rear skirt and R32 front bar, those 5 spoke bora rims and an exhaust... no actual visible exhaust tips though...

Going to work I spotted a Passat TDI Wagon on ACT plates heading towards the Barrossa with people and bikes onboard. Coming home from work a bunch of cyclists with Lennocks gear on. Coincidence? Maybe a holiday paid for by all those $3K exhausts cars didn't need :rolleyes:

Ha! I hardly see any! The ones I've seen recently are all reported here - no I lie - I saw a MK1 Cabby on I think NE Road last Sunday. Apart from that, they're very few and far between in my experience.

Yes did most of it.
Only thing I didnt do was build the engine and some of the paint work.
Also I did the first headliner and didnt like it so I got a pro to do that.
Heres 33 pages of a resto if you have the time to read it, nothing hidden ,all there so everyone can see whats been done and also to show its not that hard to turn out a not to bad a van in your shed, with help from friends

Seen again (I think) 2-3 weeks ago, Victoria Ave, Hyde Park area.
Also, at least 3 weeks ago, tidy looking blue MK1 Railway Tce, Mile End - not seen that one before. It still surprises me a bit when I see a Mk come out of the woodwork. There can't be too many left in Adelaide.
Plus, about a billion Mk4s (still look nice though), and plenty of Mk6s, including a fair few GTIs. And some new Polos too.

I saw (and overtook) a mint red VR6 this morning on the Strath-Mt Barker Road. Flawless paint for age of car- very well looked after generally. Driving like a granny though... :P

Oh yeah, good to have brakes and a stereo as well as all the mod cons. It's got more controls on the steering wheel than the Mk1 has in the whole car! But the Mk1 is still a thrill to drive - about a ton lighter than the Mk5, better visibility and more of a 'real' driving experience. But it's great to have a car that is much younger than me for a change (I've had the Mk1 since before the Mk 5 was even built!).
haha you'll love the mk5 though - probably still my favourite of the modern VWs (not that I am biased or anything!).
Also, I spotted a flawless red mk2 (I think it was gen2 anyway) on Bridge Rd twice today, once on the way to work this morning and then back home again this arvo. Female driver. Very clean :)

It definitely had slimline (premium) plates, but I didn't catch the state - I was riding past fairly quickly. I actually like the red/chrome combo on the Mk5, but agree it's not to everyone's tastes.

It might have been me - if the plates were white on red.
The chrome grille was a work in progress. It's satin silver now.
It's a "shed project" I've been fooling with for quite a while. It's not meant to look like an R32 - it's meant to look like the R-line option available in the Fatherland on GTs, Tiguans &c..

Interesting. I used to live in Kingswood, just by Mitcham, and never saw it down there. My attention tends to be drawn to anything VW these days, and particularly anything of the red variety, so I'm sure I would have noticed it had I seen it.
