I just found a mk1 ls, 5 DOOR, MANUAL,70,000 on clock. Has the cone shaped speedo dials. Petrol engine MK1 golf.

Runs sweet, has servo and master cylinder missing and thats all.

Chrome bumpers, Looks solid, problem is someone has hand painted it white:eek:

Anyway bit of a project, $500

Sorry no pics yet, but it looks solid, shame it has been hand painted...

Worth rescuing >?

Yeah great idea, but to be honest, I am not a big fan of the rat look, I mean the really really nasty looking cheap rat look. I couldn't drive it, without a balaclava:biggrin:

depends if you want a project or not.

not many people will get up and go crazy over the 70,000kms really. I wouldn't get it just on that fact.

although if it's a swallowtail, some people reckon they're more valuable.

you could always learn to spray paint ;)

and do you want or need another car?

go over the rust susceptible spots with a magnet, magnet no stick = bog to thick....

Truth will only be told when it gets out of its underware and down to bare metal tho...

I think your right guys, yeah project would be nice, but would be happier doing something really worthwhile, like you say a swallowtail.

Yeah the blue one could be a goer.

Thanks for the advice guys.

what condition are the bumpers in? good nic bumpers go for $500-600 don't they?

low ball them, strip it for parts, scrap the rest

I'd say save it as a rat, but doesn't sound like you are into that

Depends what month 76 it is, I think our LS' were upto and including march 76. I had a march 76 swallowtail. You won't know until you look at the back panel really.

Thanks Brother...I think Swallow went upto June 76, but like you say need to see it again to confirm.
