I have just joined this forum - wow - here is a whole new world.
I recently took delievry of a Mk3 - which my sister purchased new in 1994.
It has 397k on the clock and except for a dull paint job it goes beautifully.
I am looking to put some wheel arch moulds on the car - i saw some on a vehicle on ebay and they look great.
Any ideas wher I could get a set from and what they are worth.
This is an amazing site

Hi buddy, welcome aboard :D
First of all, I hope you don't mind. I've moved your thread into a new thread because we are trying to keep the mk3 motivational thread without chit-chat.
As for your question, I know a few people here and there have had them up for sale in the ForSale section, I'll find a link from the most recent I remember and stick it in here. They're not too expensive, but they're not just really cheap.
Hope that helps :)
P.S 397 km and still going strong?! holy crap!

welcome! I had the exact same revelation when I first joined up. This place is epic win.
397,000 km is ALOT. what model is it? (i'm putting dollars down on a petrol CL or a diesel GL)
There is alot to do to a MK3 and despite their difficulties, they have alot of character. No two are the same.
Again, welcome. Some people just pass through. Some people stop in for a short while and end up staying forever. Either way, you will thoroughly enjoy all sections. :D

Thanks guys,
I am glad to be on board -
The Mk3 is a 2 litre GL petrol model. Sis and her husband are both doctors and have had this thing serviced by VW all it's life - expensive - but I guess testimony that it is still in good shape - quite right - it is nearly all highway driving.
The gearbox is a reconditioned unit - sometime around 200klm's - but still original engine - uses about a litre of oil every 5000 klm
They purchased a corolla (i still dont know why that happened ?) and the dealer would not trade the Golf - said it was worth nothing - they gave it to me !
It's all good - I sell my BMW - and get to be a kid again. Last time I owned a golf was a Mk1 in 1983 - so much is still the same between the Mk1 and the Mk3
Thanks for your advise - I will check the for sale section of this web site for some more goodies.
