For NA you want cams, exhaust, CAI and suspension mods to make it more enjoyable.

To get real power increases you will need to go down the forced induction pathway.

Twin 40mm Dellortos
1800 Cylinder Head
Techtonics 268° Cam
Extractors and exhaust

and a body that's 500kg lighter.

Lol, closer to 250kg, but yes I completely agree the motor is much better suited for a MK1/2 :)

If you could get your hands on an ABA head and gear from the USA, that head ported, with a cam and maybe even an Ebay chip to bump the limiter up in conjunction with your other mods of course. You'd have something that would honestly come close to an ABF in performance if it all works together

You`d need different pistons as well as an ABA head.

i need to rebuild my 95 2E engine soon. my Seat Ibiza GTI.

does some one have a list of all parts needed to be replaced in basic rebuild and while at it i was wondering where i could get a new cam, maybe a lumpier one.

already have extractors and exhaust modded.

should i do a different AIR pod filter. if so where and what.

Bit hard to find things for this car...

Iv been putting together parts to build a mild 8v 2ltr for a while. Hoping for 75kw+ at the front wheels.

Here is my plan:

Head
- Port and polish head
- 268 Cam
- HD double valave springs
- Light weight retainers/lifters
- VRS kit

Bottom end
- Balance crank, rods and pistons
- Have factory rods shot penned
- Baffle welded into factory sump

Intake
- Factory airbox with standard paper filter, small swiss cheese and air feed from bumper
- TB and inlet manifold with a mild port. (Just to get rid of the bumps etc from the factory casting)

Exhuast
- Factory down pipe with mild port
- High flow cat
- Full 2" mandrel bent stainless system with hot dog and straight through muffler.

Managment
- Id like to try one of the ebay eprom chips but nothing too crazy as ist closed loop and very basic.

Drive train
- Lighten flywheel
- Sachs sports clutch
I really think this is something most over look as we want out very basic engines to rev. So having a light fly wheel to spin up will help our low powered engines.

All the above work is being done by myself and my Dad. Im lucky that I have acess to the people and can do it on a budget etc. So this wouldnt be cheap and minimal gains for $$$ spent if you had a shop build it.

But first of all get your suspension, brake etc up to scratch then worry about power. (Or buy a faster car to start with)

this is my second car. this was one of my fav cars. i want to get the engine back up to scratch and be proud of what it was.

my new car is a xr5...

would love to see some of that work on your car water boy.

yeah need to invest again in some of the new parts again. i replaced the shocks about 7 years ago, but i think i will do coilover kit on it.

its got a new clutch.
would like to do the brakes at some stage. just not sure what to find and add.

If you ever need an extra hand water boy. would love to help ya. sweet.
