For sale is a classic 1976 Volkswagen Golf Mk1 LS model Citrus Red. I've owned her for just under a year and has served me well as my first car, but as commitments pile up, its time to pass her on to someone who will do her justice. I'm believe I'm the third owner (thanks to Golfloon).

She drives great for a 32 year old car (drag V8's off the line) and has no major mechanical issues. She at 180,000k's which is low for her age. Still revs real nice and doesn't burn oil really as much as first thought i.e. doesn't smell. The automatic choke is a pain but that was from birth. Also changed the clutch cable and rebuilt carbo but its not much better.

Also has no structural rust but surface rust is prevelant in most common places i.e. roof gutters and bonnet. She has been dented in the rear at some stage but not while I've owned her (I've actually tried to fix it but never completed the tailgate but did straighten the bootlid which was bent pretty bad.

The interior is pretty good for age. No cracking on anywhere around the dash, but speedo is about 20kph below the actual speed i.e doing 60kph shows 80kph on the dial. Seats are vinyl and so have small cracks on the drivers and rear seats but repairable.

Also comes with GTI arches which cost me $400 to import from UK and so too the duckbill spoiler which is brand new $200. Comes with two sets of bumpers, the original chrome but were tardy when originally purchased and never restraightened theme, instead replaced with plastic 80's style. Car has been panelbeated and straightened since then but bumper has not (just need to take plastic off and straighten metal support).

She runs on Mk3 steelies giving a wider look then the skinny 13" originals. She also has her original rego HZB 419 which ends in late october.

Overall a great car that has never broken down, always turns a head and leaves people asking What is it? I hope I own another one in the future.

Looking for $2500 as I've done alot of body work repair to bring her up to standard.

PM me your interest and I'll reply as quickly as possible for viewing. I live in georges hall (near bankstown).

Thanks

Yeh well beyond my ability im sad to say. Besides I wouldn't dare leave the VAG fold. Im purchasing Scotsman 2L mk2 GTI so im crying in side for the mk1 but happy to get something just as good. I will one day have another mk1 golf, hopefully I'll have a garage as my poor girl at the moment suffers in the elements.

From all reports there is no structural rust, just slight surface rust from age, and its mainly on the bonnet

any engine work done?

DangerDan

No need to really as engine is in real fine form for age. I was contemplating doing an engine change but realised I didn't need to. Pulls really well, she isn't slow.
