Installed my new speakers, head unit and amp over the last week
Fixed my problem with power windows, everything seems to be working fine
I sealed everything up and when i turned on the car, the airbag light stays on :duh:
I did have to take off the front passenger airbag to route the wires and i think that might've caused it
Is there any way of resetting it other than taking it to the mechanics and paying $50 or so? I googled and searched here and that seems to be the only solution:frown:
If you cycled the ign at all when that was disconnected then the only way to switch it off is to erase the code mate
Cheers

I can't remember where the thread on this forum is, but somewhere (possibly in the technical sections) there is a thread that lists people who have vagcom in oz. there are a good few in melbourne who would happily give you a hand if it's just the erasing of a code that's needed. :)

Thanks folks, just took a quick glance at the list and it looks like the only melbourne guy's cable wouldn't quite work with mine
If anyone does own one around here that'd be a mssive help though

Hmm, I thought Tim had vag-com. You could try PMing him and asking, his username is just 'Tim'.

I'd say you have an airbag fault man! But seriously..get it checked out, because that's possible.

i was told when i did my heater core to
Make sure you disconnect the battery before you pull the airbags out and have the ignition switched to on before you reconnect the battery to avoid the airbag light coming on.

Hi y'all I had my airbag light on permanently for 2 years as I was fed up with the service from my local dealer. I was toldon this forum that it was most likely the clock spring which is a $350ish part, so I have lived with it. But today Jmac (on this forum) popped in a secondhand one and has reset the code, so it should be sorted. I suppose ultimately the airbags may not have gone off if I had been in an accident....

Decided to just buy one of the ebay usb cables..
Will this one work alright? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Vag-Com-OBD-2-Interface-Scanner-VW-Audi-VagCom-scantool_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el 1116QQhashZitem3c9ffe052cQQitemZ260382262572QQptZA UQ5fCarQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQQsalenotsupported
My next car will likely be a VW anyway, i'll use it for a while
