What about a commodore SV8, they go for 8-9k at auction and 5k later you've got an 11 second car

Personally the Bora's are getting on a bit, an A4 would be alot nicer and easier to service with the 1.8T :)

not allowed to have turbos or v8's... and something that wouldn't really be cop bait...trying to get away from cops

Keep the VR6 and try and get a savings account going. Are you managing to save much living out of home?? I struggle and I barely have any bills.

Bora 4mo - perfect P-Plater car, you wont find many better cars that you're allowed to drive

I'd say keep your car and respray it would be my first preference if I were you. My next choice would be a 4-mo on CH's although it's a bit of a huge step up in price.

If you wanted to be smart (and boring). You'd go buy a brand new Yaris or something with new car warranty and far less problems for the same price or even less than a 4-Mo.

But it wouldn't have near the same appeal and fun as a VW.

stu,

spray it, raise it a little and go for a clean look. they will leave you alone.

mount your P plate properly with a tacky nerdy p plate holder and they will see your out to just drive and thats it. take it from me! :) lols

if a cop passes you, dont turn your head around or watch them .. they know something is up .. and dont say you dont lol.

...any engine swaps you guys can do reasonably easy in the MK3?

I know I got bored with my first car, until I dropped a much more powerful donk in it. Made it a totally different, and new, drive!

The only thing I would personally change to would be a turbo diesel. They're reliable and fast enough, easily out-tune the VR6 and the fuel is much cheaper.

Me being me though, I'd spend the money if I comfortably could, but it's EVER SO SLIGHTLY silly to blow all my money on cars while I'm living without someone else's house over my head!

Mate if you want to keep modifying cars and having fun with them, keep the VR and do little things here and there to feed the addiction. That's exactly what I've done, and despite maintenance being a bitch when it hits hard it's still worth it. I've got mates that have had 4 or so cars already and they've been driving as long as myself, and they're always looking to upgrade.

I reckon...it's not about finding the right car for you, it's about making it.
