I have always had problem with getting parts for the european cars that i have owned. So I wondered if it just me or if anybody else has had any problems.

My story goes......
My Bora needs new brakes. Simple, get some new rotors and pads, Asked around here about info (part numbers, bigger brakes etc) I just went with the standard brakes as they work quite well anyway. So off i go down to the local part supplier with all my info and everything. He said "Sure i will have it here tomorrow". It came four days later, not to fuss about that because there is not much you can do about it. They delivered them in a big box, took them home, jack up one side of the bora, put it back down, crack all the nuts on the wheels, jack it up again. Took the rotor off and put the other one on, perfect fit. Then the pads, pulled them out the box, not even close, check the rear pads, same, wrong. Merc C class front pads and Jeep Wranger Rears.

Had the same problems with my BMW with getting parts. Is it me???

(Just venting abit of anger because the battery is now shot because i haven't drove it in 3 weeks :duh:)

That sounds shoddy as! Tough luck I spose, I haven't had that much bad luck with parts but there are always those that do. Good luck with it lol

Try Imparts on Main North Road Enfield. I've found them to be pretty good. Unless that's who you've been dealing with....

I'd be surprised if Imparts screwed brakes up. They are well versed on things VW.

i used alot of different businesses over the years. you have always got your good and your bad. the big places don't have idea unless you own aussie or jap car (which i always expected anyway) and some european suppliers (not going to name places) still don't have much idea or turn their noses up at me and give me some grumpy attitude when i ask 'supply only'. i never gone to imparts or even seen them to be honest, drive past about 20 times a day, maybe should make see them next time

German Auto Parts over in the US is the way to go (check recommended suppliers). I got my front rotors through them. Was cheaper to buy both rotors and ship them here plus get them slotted locally for the price of what VW Australia wanted for one non slotted rotor! Even when the dollar went bad they were still cheaper.
That said with the pads, my front ones are also used on a couple of AMG Mercs as well as my car. However yeah if they're a totally different pad that won't fit then seriously what the hell???
Cheers,
Trent

GAP might be cheaper, but if you need parts urgently (like I did with my clutch cable) and want to support a local (ish) business, then give Imparts a go. They know what you're talking about when you want an obscure part on a 30 year old car, and if they don't have it in stock then they can get it in within a day or two.

Their number is 8260 3577 - their card says they're 'The European Parts Specialists'.

No I don't work there!
