Hi all, I am worried to notice that the 2009 Brochure of the Tiguan in AUST
has listed the new RCD 310 & RCD 510 and the difference that worries me is that the old brochure does not state the Park Assist has Optical indication on the radio. The dealer located a new for me and the Tig is made Feb 09 so does anyone know if it will have the new specs as per the March Brochure? I will contact the dealer tomorrow. What other changes were there I wonder?

VW bring them in quietly but this annoys the hell out of me when you are looking at cars as I bet the 2008 tigs around are definately old specs.

Optical Parking (rear) Sensors come standard on the 147...
and you only get front and rear sensors if you order Park Assist is my understanding.

Which model you considering/buying?

Park Assist is fitted on TDI 103 Auto MY09 - No Dynaudio unfortunately.

Also just found a brochure coded VGA7500B which is earlier than VGA7500C that has Park Assist Optical display stated and RCD models unlike the original VGA 7500 Brochure, so I should be OK but will double check.

Does anyone know how much Bluetooth Phone option cost Dealer Fitted? And does it work with all RCD /RNS fitted equipment?

The 103 TDI I test drove two weeks ago - the sensors appeared on the RCD310 screen. Not as pretty as on the RCD 510 - but they were there.

As for bluetooth - there are two options...
$700 to be able to answer and hang up calls...
$1400+ for premium bluetooth - that downloads your phone book amongst other things.

There are several threads on bluetooth... and I'm not sure if you need the RCD510 for the premium or not.

My dealer recommended I do the $700 hands free bluetooth (well $715.99 to be exact on my quote) if I didn't want all the bells and whistles and potentially a very expensive option.

Is it the Parrot brand fitted by the dealer for $715.99 ?
I wouldn't buy that option again, it failed once already in our GolfV and had to be replaced under the warranty by the dealer.

Consider the RNSS510 chinese knockoff touch screen bluetooth Sat Navs for $800.
EDIT for DJY: reverse camera makes up for loss of radio icon display. Personally, I only listen to the beeps whilst looking in the rear view mirror.

only problem with the rip offs either this one or the AVC9000 (and newer models) is that you loose the parking sensors stuff (from my own reading)!?!?

still doing more research though.
Sent an email query to the VW centre here in Canberra (Tuggers and Belconnen workshops) but never received a reply about whether they could install these... and if there would be any loss of functionality.

Thanks all,

Yes I reckon some of the Gizmos on screen look fancy but in action one relies on just the beeps. I was considering a Forester which only had rear sensors but heck how many times are there that you can't see where the guards are in car parks at the front and need fr sensors.

As for Bluetooth $700 is a rip off as I use the phone very little and even if you got busted a once by the cops, you would still have money for an after market portable unit. Surely this accessory will be the normal built in "free" function in years to come, as will SD/USB (eSata?) and bluetooth for connecting peripherals to the SatNav//Radio unit. Can't wait!!

I remember agonising over ESP for my wife's golf (for mere safety) and now it is standard and the car is cheaper! Mind you how long can you wait. Next up will be knee airbags on VW like Skoda is doing. mmmmh.

I test drove the TDI a few days ago with the std RCD310 radio and it definitely does have the Optical Parking System display coming up on the radio screen. I too have the brochure from March 2009 and it does not show it in there. However if you have a look at the new Golf brochure it does show how the Optical Parking System will look like on the RCD310.

I also spoke to the dealer and they have received no communication on any upgrade to 2010 models. However I was told that they may get more info after July 2009.

I think alot of the confusion comes between
Park Assist and the Optical Parking Sensors.

Park Assist - parallel parks the car itself... and is displayed on the central dashboard (Multi Function Display)...

Optical Parking Sensors (also used by Park Assist) can be fitted just as Optical Parking Sensors - front and rear - which displays how close you are to objects - that it is this that is displayed on your radio head unit.

True, but to get OPS you need parking sensors. To get parking sensors, you need Park Assist (factory fit). I think the dealer can fit rear parking sensors for you as an option, but not sure if that includes the optical display.

Went to Barlo Glen Waverley this morning and they have a Catalina Blue Tiguan that is a late 2008 build with RCD 310 so Mine should be OK I hope.
Their price was a joke on the car though. I could eat my lunch in the cars and listen to the music and no one would come to see if I wanted to buy the car, been there many times. Like others say, this dealership is obviously not desperate to sell cars.

I don't believe it is...
Dealer said they weren't using that one any more...
is Volkwagen endorsed and he thought it might have even been a Nokia?!?!
Only picked mine up tonight - so will see what I can glean from the paperwork in the car.
