yep people ive finally done it. ive converted to the evil "chipped" side of the force. went down on thursday morning and met the crew of harding performance. i got a apr chip v2, engine mount and f1 diverter valve. guy gave me a bit of tour through some of his cars, hes got there, nothing short of beautifull to say the least. the staff are friendly,informative and professional in every sence of the word.thanks again guys for a great experiance.


my thaughts on chipping? yeeehhaaa!!!,......though i seriously need to get some good suspension to help keep that rubber to the road.that fmic ill be getting in afew weeks will certainly help too, driving from ipsh#t to the sunny coast, i think i got a bit of heat soak towards the end.:biggrin:

yeah the soak does not take long, especially when you are in stop-start traffic as the air flow is low.

thats a good set of work to get done at the same time, I've just put the dual port valve in and it seems to suit the V2 tune. Has reduced the jerk on throttle lift off.

What are your thoughts on the suspension?

Truth be told.. I didnt notice that much with the FMIC.. A lot of money but dont notice much more in power.

Id just do the vent mod on the stock intercooler.. When are you hammering away all day to need the FMIC keep the intake charge down.

Maybe a track day but general driving around, if its for performance Im not really convinced it was a wise investment.

VW certainly didnt like the FMIC when I turned up with warranty questions.

I would go the dump pipe before the FMIC. I think it helps expel heat from the turbo and helps it stay cooler as well.

bilstein b12 's, the price from there up gets pretty steep. and ive heard countless good reports about them.

i've got the H&R's but using stock shocks. Few others have done the same.

I cant compare as i've only been in mine before and after. Definitely a tighter ride, but I'm sure a full setup would be a lot better.

i agree with you re suspension- ive gotta get mine done soon, although it will have to wait abit- snow season and stupid amounts of money spending just around the corner!!!

you boys in the gti atleast arent doing TOOOO bad from the get go. in the tdi, the suspension is SHOCKING!!!

Well I know its a little apples with oranges... but.... I got the H&R's with Bilstein shocks and I could overtake a BMW 318iS with Eibach Pro springs and stock shocks around corners no probs. The shocks made a big difference to the BMW when they were changed out for new Bilsteins like my Polo. It almost keeps up now :nana:

so yeah after i get the fmic (some time in the next few weeks), it will be suspension time. i guess the real surprising thing was my fuel consumption stayed the same when i drove back up the coast.

full exhaust probably wont on till july /august.

congrats on the med.

as manay said, stock 16s aint sticky enough for chipped polo. so does the suspension.

i got H&R spring, less roll but bit dumpy ard the town though.

also after i got 17s 215, car feel much better under hard acceleration and cornering.

highly recommended!

I have 17x7" alloys with an offset of 45 (original factory offset of 43 being a 2006 model-I belive 2007 onward models are 38 )

And I have 215/40R17 tyres with H&R springs a further 25mm drop than the 10mm drop from factory for the GTI and 0 scubbing issues at all :biggrin:

from what i can tell , fuel economy is better providing you drive it nicely, any fun you add into the mixture increases fuel consumption drastically ( much, much more then stock). going to work (its only a 20minute drive since i work grave yard shifts) i used to get fuel consumption down to around 7.8 by the time i got the work, now it gets down to 7.5............that is of course if i dont have a lil fun :biggrin:

I came around a tight bend the other day about 100km/h and with lowered suspension and 18 inch wheels bearing 215/35/18 I did hear it scrub a little but I was mid corner and hit a bump in the road. Going straight it never scrubs. If I went around a corner at normal speeds no scrub..

I think its pretty safe to say they are fine.
