Hi, any one keen on doing sprints (trackdays) at Lakeside in May?

Lakeside has May 3rd (sunday) and 31st (sunday).

I'm going to do one, just haven't decided which. If anyone else is keen, I'll join you.

Just realised I can't make the QR one.

Just did last Saturday at Lakeside with the resurfaced track (with the Porsche club) - AWESOME

I may be come out for a looksee.
Jay in the G60Mk2 may finally take his car out on the track. Just a few little bits to finish off on the little beast.
Guy!! Do you have any lap times from your time out at Lakeside by any chance?
Cheers guys, May see you out there.

Best at lakeside was 1.02.08 (soooo close to a 1.01 - I could smell it!) takes a lot to get used to that new track surface and all our markers of where to turn are now missing :)

I was pretty cautious as my mate ripped the left front wheel off his 930 a few weeks ago, and another friend rearranged his 964RS into the armco in the second session as well :duh:

Wow, thats movin Guy. Well done. The Orange R8 was out on sunday and did a 1.02.1 (full slicks) so you seem to be on pay with him. There is a lot more in that car but i can't blame him for taking it easy. At 275k+, i would take it easy as well.
Yes certainly the new track is very nice. So much grip, all i need now is more power as grip seems to be no problem at all. I did my best time out there last Sunday as well. Did a 1.04.8 in my Ibiza Cupra. Not bad i reckon, since its only pushing 95KWatw.

Sprints were good fun - Golf ran really well. Takes a bit to get used the the Clubman & sprint tracks (I mostly do the international circuit).

Had a lot of fun messing with an XR8 with a turbo stuck on it.

Also found out what its like to have a front tyre blow out at ~ 180  :horsepoop:

Anyway - should have the old girl patched up for Wakefield next weekend!

Guy, do you do the saturday sprints at QR, or only the wednesday?

Mid week sprints get more track time right?

Just the mid week ones - there was only 30 cars so it was pretty good - not too many cars to a session!

Some nice photos in there. Looks like every man and his 911 went out to play. Had a chuckle at the comments about you also owning that APR Cayman and TT. You must have a good deal with the APR supplier here in Australia. j:

Car looks good, and a couple of the comments there show people were quite impressed with its performance. Nice work, better come on the next Brisbane cruise!

Gotta love the surprise on the XR8 (with a turbo) owners face when he came over to check out what just passed him :)

It's always fun - people don't suspect a Golf!

nice times Guy.

I think the humble polo would be well outclassed on a wednesday sprint. I think it's good for a 68sec, maybe squeeze a 67 on the sprint track in complete stock trim. Was doing 69's with water and oil in the S bend before the hairpin onto the straight. :(

Thanks Sean, I was really just having a hack at it trying different suspension settings & messing with the Ford XR8 with the blower - I'm sure there is another couple of seconds on both circuits if I spent some time concentrating on cornering instead of ripping up the tyres!

Hope to see you at the next one - we need to get our S3 out there for some test & tune!

Do you have an lsd guy? How do you get all the power down?

Guy_H
28-05-2009, 02:21 PM
Has a Peloquin LSD (Torque biased), but still struggles with the power in corners (Operator needs to back off a bit :duh:) we have done a fair bit of suspension work to help that out though!
