Paint correction needed mk2 golf

Hey all,

The paint on my mk2 golf is about 19 years old now, and has the spots to prove. I gave it a cut/polish/wax the other week which helped it heaps, but there are some bits that just won't come out. Should I send it to a pro detailer, or what products will help me out? Some parts look like touch-up paint marks, so now sure how I'll go without a powered buffer or whatnot.

The car also came with a dint, so any recomendations on where to get this fixed would be welcome. Or even a cheap fix if it's going to cost more than say $400.

Hi Tim,
I have been detailing cars for 20+ years so thought i'd give you my 2c worth.

You will need to get most of the sections painted if you want a new look as they have, what looks like from the photos, scored the clear and gone through to the paint.
Pic 3 is a bird dropping or tree sap stain which 'sometimes' can seep all the way through to the metal.

You wont cut those out unfortunatly.

Thanks for the reply. The bits on the bonnet are really the worst, otherwise the rest of the car is just really hazy. The rear quarter shine in this pic is about as good as it gets.

How much would a good respray cost?

Just the outside bits, not full engine bay or under the bonnet or between door sills, since no one will see those bits and I don't want the respray costing as much as the car lol..

Otherwise I guess I could get it shined up by a pro, I don't have the experience or tools to clean up old paint.

a semi decent respray would be at least $4000. Call chris at driven by shine. www.drivenbyshine.com.au you will be amazed at what he can do

If you don't want to get into painting as yet I would say a really good going over by a detailer would certainly bring up the shine on it.

That said, A good paint job will make the car though.
Give Dans mate a call to see what he can do.

PS. Wurth do a plastic dye paste for the black plastic trims that brings them up like new.
