JR.
19-02-2007, 08:09 AM
chears golf man, i will post up an update when i get my finger out and do some work on the ole girl?

ausssig60, not to sure on the final ofset but would have been et25 on 7.0 inch rims if they were rsoo1
I am getting new outers from Justmatz over here in the uk and sent this pick off to dave and jerremy to view and get me the same look
general opinion is they are 7.5x15 all round so that would be a 1.5 inch outer?
but it looks as if they have got spacers to make them fill out the arches as well. (if they are 8x15 then the offset would be et12)

i hope this helps

i might tout this pick on e38 see if the owner is about and tell me more

The grille was from a Limited and the number plate was the best I could get to a private plate with VW in it. H10 OVW. Got some didgy german plates made up.

I was working at Frankfurt Airport at the time. The wheels were RMs with an extra inch in them.

No it wasn't a Limited itself, just a humble GTI G60. In Germany they all come in poverty spec apart from the Edition One. Mine had keep fit windows, central locking and electric mirrors. The interior was std GTI of the time although I did fit a set of 92 seats to it. I also retro fitted electric windows which I pull out of a 16V Campaign.

It had a stage 4 charger, 68 mm pulley, red top injectors, 4 bar FPR, custom written chip, Weitec suspension, drilled discs etc etc. As well as the std full width intercooler.

The Limiteds were the same colour, metallic black but they were 4 door with 4wd, small bumpers(American spec), std leather not recaros, all the options bar AC. And of course the 16V G60 motor. I have been in one which had a std pulley on it, so 210 bhp. My G60 was doing 180 and 3 up in the Limited it could kick the ar5e out of mine no problems.

Sad to see it go but it was in need of some paint and I have never been able to spend money on stuff that doesn't improve performance. That's when I bought my Passat GT G60 syncro, which is another story.

Nice looking car that Gavin and those wheels look awesome!

19-05-2007, 09:56 AM
Thanks for the praise guys.

Not wanting to burst any bubbles, I didn't like them.....

I bought them at GTI International for 300 quid. I cleaned the car up, which normally looked like hell as it was my daily driver, then went to the local Club GTI meeting with the wheels on to sell them.

Doubled my money in a week and the wheels were only fitted for about 3 hours.

The car did come with RMs when I bought it but I just hated cleaning them all the time.

I ran it on Borbet Cs which were easy to clean and for the last 6 months on some black G60 steelies. It looked really nasty with those fitted, I reckon this was the best look for it. I don't think I have any pictures of it like that though.

Awesome pics! I can't help myself; that red 2-door Mk3 looks pretty slick too :D

Mk2 Rallye, they only came out in LHD correct? So that must've been converted?

Found one of the Golf with the black steelies on. This is what it looked like most of the time.

Always had a thing for the Rallye, a std one would suck though. They really need 200+hp to move their fat a55es around.

seems that wheels with tyres that fit with each other look plain and boring. all these done up cars either have super wide wheels and 205 or 215 tyres or they have superwide tyres sitting on smallish rims. looks awsome though. might be my imagination.

Correct MR2 used similar/same wheel. I sold a set (to a member of this forum of course) awhile ago however toyota one would have smaller centre bore.

I got them cheaper because the company stuffed me around for about 2 months, so similar price to V2's and thought I'd try something different, so far so good. They're not as easy to adjust though as you need to take the wheels off to adjust bump and rebound. Obviously you have to take the wheels off to adjust the height with any coilovers.

Will have to wind them right down once I get up there for the nationals.....

Very nice shot - is that what they call an HDR composition, where they take multiple pictures in the same position, only differing in ISO or white balance? I don't remember, but I've come across these before!

There's so many modded examples with badgeless grilles that it just looks weird to see one with a badge at the front!

Yep thats HDR or High Dynamic Range.

You can do this with a tripod, 5-8 exposures and Photoshop CS3.

I tried HDR with a shot of the moon, but the clouds were moving way to fast!!

Welcome Walshy another pom here. Yeah it is aslong as it's an 88 or older. I brought my 2 door mk2 GTI over with me. I'm suprised people aren't buying mk1 GTI's atleast given they are worth $10K here in decent condition.

Nothing to stop you bringing a late model small bumper in at all :)

Shipping has been covered a few times on this forum, due to a few Poms coming over, and bringing thier cars.

From memory, it's about 7-8 grand (AUD) for it to be shipped, customs duties, conpliancing etc etc.(a rough all up total) Not including the cost of the car of course.

Just completed by a friend of mine, in the Netherlands. GolfII, 4Motion chassis, Audi 2.0 TSFI engine from an S3. Ultimate sleeper, very light, *very* fast... Let me know what you think! He's curious to know :-)

Very nice!

What brakes?

What 1/4 or 0-100?

Total build cost?

His reply:
Discs: AP 305mm, calipers Brembo 4 pods.
0 - 100 time? Must be around 5 seconds. Weight of the car incl. driver 1285 kg, so less then 4 kg/hp. No real traction problems because the 4 motion system. Topspeed in the second gear is 111km/h so till 100 I need one gearshift.
Costs: a lot of time and some money :-)

Those wheels weren't selected for looks... They are OZ UltraLeggera - very, very light. Not to mention costly... These are 16", less than 6.5kg a corner.

light weight and brembo 4pot clearance. :)

if you were pushing that much torque, had 4wd and 4pot brembos, i'd have dumpage and nice rims at the sacrifice of that .1 second 0-100 and few kilos extra unsprung mass

I actually dont mind the wheels. They show the nice shiney Brembos very well :driver:

Thinking of importing this when I leave the Uk. Thoughts? Should I go back to small bumpers? (never had them since i had it.) Thoughts?
