The flip out screen will ruin the retro look unless you make it look old or something.

The no-name brand dvd players stuff up very quickly too.

Interesting idea but I wouldnt do it.

if you use the connector from a n64 it has the regular yellow, red and white cords (forgot what they're called) and it works on the super nintendo.

Get some wooden contact sheet and cover it the shiny bits anyway.

Then with the knobs scratch them a little to make them look a little worn.

meh! the atari is old enough, (1979) i dont care what the TV looks like
EDIT: looks like it was released in 1977!! BEEEEST, its like the new mk5's with there optional GPS screen!!! only in 1977 form! haha

stolen from wikipedia!

The Atari 2600 is a video game console (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_console) released in October 1977. It is credited with popularizing the use of microprocessor-based hardware and cartridges (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartridge_(electronics)) containing game code, instead of having non-microprocessor dedicated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dedicated_console) hardware with all games built in. The first game console to use this format was the Fairchild Channel F (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairchild_Channel_F). However the Atari 2600 is credited with making the plug-in concept popular among the game-playing public.
Originally known as the Atari VCS — for Video Computer System — the machine's name was changed to "Atari 2600" (from the unit's Atari part number, CX2600) in 1982 following the release of the more advanced Atari 5200 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_5200). The 2600 was typically bundled with two joystick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joystick) controllers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_controller), a conjoined pair of paddle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paddle_(game_controller)) controllers, and a cartridge game—initially Combat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_(video_game))[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_2600#cite_note-combat-3) and subsequently Pac-Man (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pac-Man_(Atari_2600)).[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_2600#cite_note-2600pacman-4)
The Atari 2600 was wildly successful. During the 1980s, "Atari" was a synonym for this model in mainstream media and, by extension (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metonymy), for video games in general, similar to "Nintendo" and "PlayStation" in the later 1980s and '90s.

No, the Atari has an RF plug output, not RCA's which is what the SNES has (if you have the multi-AV output cable).

The red-yellow-white sockets on the back of the LCD in car TV monitor are RCA sockets.

Just a suggestion : Why don't u just wire up an In-Car PC and install a few emulators for consoles like the SNES, Megadrive, N64 etc? Easier and more configurable with the same retro feel if you get a couple of USB Gamepads...

LOVE the idea, mad as :D !!
You can get an RF modulator and adapter I reckon, or if the headunit/dvd player has an antenna then run it through that.

yeah that would allso be cool, but it hasnt got the original feel to it!
iwas gonna buy an atari flashback, witch is RC connected and has no game cartriges but a hard drive with multiple games, but the OG one is the best!!!

A bit of laminex wood grain or something like that would complete the old school/new look.

After that's all hooked up dom, you could set the screen color to Black and White too!
