alright then, I'll start :P

what's the go with your car? what's the mods that you have and/or are going to do to it?

and how can I get out there and start doing hillclimbs?

I had great success in hillclimbs down here in my Mk1 twincam. Only things that ever bothered me were a couple of jap cars, GTR's, no Subies, an Evo and a Cosworth Escort. In the wet, I mean pouring rain the only thing that beat me in one hillclimb was a sole GTR with a bucket load of money spent on it.
I used my car as a parts pickup car for my business and ran it in all types of motorsport., well, not speedway or gravel rallies...
You probably havent seen pics of the car...

Hey 16vkid, go through my past posts and there are hundreds of pics of "Gunter".
I still have him in my shed in the country but is less the motor, gearbox and rollcage.
I ran a 1.8 twincam for the first 4 years and then switched to a 9A TC with no mods, just a lightened flywheel, homemade extractors and altered cam timing. It went perfectly and I had no problems until my second last event, The Rallye of Burnie where I snapped the exhaust cam into 3 pieces. Still drove it 380 kms home like that and had it running on the monday morning again. Took out 4th place outright in the following weekends hillclimb and then dropped out of motorsport... :frown:
Revnit now has that motor and is getting good drag times out of it for what it is.
Cheers, Andrew :)

He was thinking of it. He said around 10k with my motor, but he officiously changed his mind.

i dont get it;

he built this mk1 for himself to race and professionaly compete in, spent big dollars on the WHOLE!!! setup, buying parts, testing, swapping stuff to make this car perfect to drive to his spec, YET! he was thinking of breaking it and selling the rolling shell for 10k and have a very very expensive motor just sitting there doing nothing?

i doubt hed ever consider selling this mk1, someone offering money for it initally, then yes! thats a diffrent story, but actually himself putting it on the market...... i highly doubt it

Hey guys great to see some Mk 1 action out there. Taylor my mate and I are working furiously to get our Mk 1s ready for the Adelaide Hillclimb season. Taylor is running a KR 1.8 TC and I run the 1.6 with a blower. Keep the chats coming and enjoy your Golfs lads.

Cheers

I am trying to get the $'s together for tires, some nice fat sticky's to go on a set of mk2 14's but at this stage i am a bit short so it looks like i will be rolling on 175 70 13 stock road tires :duh: . . . should be interesting.
