Captured at the Mile End Service Centre today. I was told it arrived yesterday.

I wandered down to the Medindie Sales Centre to check an accessory and found a red in the showroom. I was waiting for an invite to the Official SA Launch, with vasts amount of German Bier. Alas, not going to happen :-(

Just noticed the twin pipes out the back does this mean it has a DPF fitted or just an upgraded exhaust for a standard 2.0 TDI?

And what's with the colour, (maybe it's reflex silver in the shade) or yet another near perfect road surface colour match

From memory (after a Brandy & coke & 4 Biers) it was silver. Pics not that good cause I left my camera home (after being at the Caravan & Camping Show) & I used Julias. it had a macro setting i couldn't remove + flat batteries :-( .

Maris

PS: It looks really good. Looked at the VIN code & saw the letter W for Wolfsburg :-) .

It will probably take a while to grow on me, it has a concept car look about it to me. Will probably look much better with window tint and some plates on it and all the usual goodies that people like yourself and I would fit to it ie mud flaps, weathershields etc.... all the things most of the youngin's nowadays think look old fashioned and uncool :duh: they seem to be into the chipped paintwork look  I think it adds to the style myself as long as you don't go overboard :)

I'm pretty sure the TDI has a DPF now, it is now using the same common-rail TDI as used in the Tiguan which has a DPF.

I think the colour of that one is called Silver Leaf.

There's silver TDI on the showroom floor at Camberwell VW (Melbourne) with sun roof and leather.

The sales guy didn't seem to know a whole lot about it. Looks nice, an evolution.

Forgot to mention the red one in the showroom had the net under the rear parcel tray, as the MK V GTI, and this was a 2L TDI!

TED,funnily enough I saw the Silver one at Camberwell on my way home from work tonight.
My first impressions are that it looks VERY much like the A5,more like a major facelift than a brand new shape.

The TDI's seem to be popping up everywhere at the moment, I have noticed a lot of Golf's around my area recently and they all seem to be diesels, MK V's so far but give it time and I'm sure there will be a few MK VI's as well. :)

i had the pleasure of seeing an entire truckload over take me on the motorway in sydney a couple days ago.

One of pretty much every colour stacked on a car carrier.

I quite like them, and think there is plenty of scope for some nice work on the rear end, tail lights in particular. seem s a good shape for an aftermarket light setup...

Slightly off topic (sorry) but if anyone buys from Camberwell VW make sure you check that the compliance plate matches the car, I've just experienced that with a Golf that was sold new by them and obviously they were a bit relaxed on the pre delivery day because they didn't pick up an error on the plate, and it was a PITA to resolve. :frown:

Had a good look at the motor show today.
First 2 improvements I noticed were the B-pillars trim is shiny.
All the MK5 s look faded, and the vent on the upper centre of the dash has been removed.
This caused frustrating rattles in a lot of cars,I am told...

The Matte Black on the B-Pillar of Mk 5s and B6 Passats is to hide fingerprints as people often grab that part of the car when getting out.

I think it's shiny on Mk5 R32 - looks great when its clean.

Saw a black Mark VI heading up Glen Osmond Road this morning... funnily enough I didn't see any at the Solitaire service joint.

Looked at a couple Mk6 on Monday at Solataire, not that impressed.

I'm probably biased as I'm new to my Mk5, but the exterior changes to the Mk6 are not that nice. I did like the look of the interior :bigok:.

From side on it almost looks like a '90s Dahatsu Charade (esp the tail lights)

Doesn't look as nice or as distinctive as the MK5 in my view. :duh:

Ok maybe that was a bit harsh;) But look at it in profile - esp the rear bit. It really does remind me of another, less distinguished hatck (can't think of which one, but maybe a Suzuki? :wasntme:). Not as good as the MK5...

Maybe it's better in the flesh. Maybe it will grow on me. :mowlawn: :driver: :drinkbeer:

I saw a black one up near my place today - are there any other than the demo cars on the road? I thought it looked fairly nice!

Thats a better assessment I have mistaken one or two Suzukis as VWs

I thought the exact same thing about the VI until i went to a dealership and compared the two cars parked next to each other.

The Mk 6 looks a hell of a lot better than the Mk 5.

I've not seen a 6 in the flesh yet so I can't really say. And even the 5 base models look a little plain compared with say a GTI ;)
