Spoke to my local dealer, surprised him with the price?!? He wasn't expecting the $500 increase on the Trendline. He said they hadn't been informed of pricing and specs yet, but did receive a DVD for internal use, which gives a general outline. He said he'd driven one, was very impressed with how solid it felt. Plus he mentioned the Trendline will have penny-pinching wheel trims instead of alloys. That's a bloody Toyota trick...

According to Volkswagen's latest price list (27 Jan 09, accessible from the VW website (http://www.volkswagen.com.au/vwcms/master_public/virtualmaster/en_au/New_Cars/golf/Pricing_and_Specifications/Information_Downloads.html)), there hasn't been a price increase at all for the entry level model.
