I am in, after my two mainland visits all is looking clear for next wednesday night. :)
Maybe blackgti1.8 might be able to make it as well?? He arrives in Tas on the 10th. Pity you won't be in the Golf though Ian... Would be great to see an Aussie representative!!! :D
Come on you others!!! We need committment ASAP. Otherwise it will be another get together down the drain. Tassie set the example earlier in the year, time to get our crap back together after the failed video night!:o

I have to work on Wednesday at 9pm, so I can only come for a while as I need to take my car home before work - tidy car and wasted idiots at the waterfront at 3am don't mix too well :(

gtimk5
09-12-2006, 04:20 PM
Well! So much for the response! Blackgti1.8 is down here (without the golf)
:( so he will be coming along to meet us. Golfcart, are you in?:?
Can we have the meeting place and time? Take note of peak 1/2 hour traffic as to where we meet Rob. :D

I would avoid the Casino as the Collegiate Speech Night is on down there tomorrow evening!

This all sound a bit unorganised for me!

gtimk5
12-12-2006, 06:11 PM
It is very unorganised, yes Luke! :? The night before and we don't have a meeting place or proper time, only 4 people have committed for the drive? Southern Taswegians used to be the leaders on having our drives, but it is very quiet again. Very dissapointing..... :(

I will probably be in Launceston swapping my wheels this saturday so it would be good to catch up with 86gti and Brackie. Will PM on that one.

People,

What is the problem here? :?

PoloGTi (Rob) has made it clear in previous posts that VW enthusiasts interested in participating in the drive are to meet on the ‘top level carpark’ at Wrest Point Hotel Casino (Hobart). When? 13th December at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm departure.

^ As I see it time/school girl traffic should not be a problem (note the times):

Speech Nights

Senior School Speech Night
Wednesday 13 December is the Senior School Speech Night it starts at 7:45 pm, it is being held at Wrest Point.
All students are to arrive in full school uniform by 7:15 pm.

Hope it goes well for you guys.

Hey, I found time for some surfing:)

Yeah I'll be there - got the good oil from gtimk5 this morning.
I'll see you there - I've had my lap around the channel already.
Yes I wish I had the GTI - the mit$%&% 380 handles like a bowl of custurd,
especially with four others in the car:(

What the heck - you seem to be a short on numbers so, I may as well front up at Wrest Point, if you don't mind me lowering the tone of the evening in the Mitsu.. Might be short on handling, but a bit of a hoot in a straight line;)

Besides, I get the see the Golfs in the daylight:)

Hey guys! Thanks for the great company tonight. Was good to have the active, friendly members turn up including blackgti1.8 and son Chris representing NSW!!! Nice meal, good chat and pleasant sitting at the table out the front of the Cygnet pub watching HR station wagons breaking down. What a laugh! Great driving roads, what else can I say??? Better than sitting at home, thats definately for sure!
Cheers blokes!!! :)

gtimk5
14-12-2006, 11:13 AM
Thought you would have enjoyed the roads Luke! bet you did have fun in the Targa stage. Didn't have to break any speed limits to enjoy that one mate. That is an awesome stage! Pologti had a bit of understeer there I heard. Was cruisy in the GTI. Do it again soon, eh? :)

15-12-2006, 04:12 PM
Yes, thanks for the great night out guys.
It was great to catch up with you. Pity some of the others couldn't make it.
Well next time maybe...
Still, it was a very pleasant meal sitting outside at the pub, recalcitrant HR included:) Thanks for the photos Golfkart.

Didn't see which way you all went once we got onto the Nicholls Rivulet road though - just goes to show the diffence between a well-sorted Golf/Polo chassis and a family slushmobile.
Oh for the GTI:( Not sure how it would have gone, but I'd have liked to give
it a damned good try... Wouldn't have liked to see how it stacked up against Luke's Mk1 at least (same 1.8 K-jet donk). Judging from the way he ran away and hid, it might have been a challenge though...

Thanks for the blast in the Mk5 GTI , Andrew. That was a real blast:)
Anyone who hasn't had the pleasure - be very jealous.
This is one car with attitude:) The way that thing launches out of slow corners has to be experienced to be believed. Love the exhaust too.

See you next time!

gtimk5
15-12-2006, 08:31 PM
Great to meet you Ian and Chris! Better come back with the GTI next time. The Bug In at easter is a good excuse or Targa time!! Would have liked to take you round the complete Cygnet stage, it's a good one....
Cheers, Andrew :)
