Hi guys,
My drivers recaro on the outside has decided to collapse.seems the previous owner was a little bit fat for the bucket style seat!
Has anyone had a similar problem? how much was the damage?
Also if anyone can refer me to a good upholsterer in the Sydney area would be great!
Thanks !!!

Aaaah the curse of the VW bucket seats. I bet the car has done over 100,000kms.

Its usually people sliding across em without care that ruins them.

I can sort it out for you, I`m in South Western Sydney (Camden) if you cant get it fixed nearer. You need to strip the fabric off, change or repair the sponge bolster and put it back together.

Its not that hard, you could do it yourself if you are handy.

I can fix it bro. Its takes a couple of hours tops, so you can either wait / help, or I`ll lend you a temp seat and you can come back.

Maybe just be abit more careful of how use get in the car. Its just like the vr6 seats got to be careful of how you get in.

I had a 1997 vr6 bought new.I owned it for nearly 6 years.Ok it had leather not cloth but I never had this prob.
but you are right in saying its the way you get in/out:rolleyes:

this saga is now over!! thanks GOLF_LOON!! matt you are the master!!
wasnt such a hard procedure.most difficulty was making the cloth(not such a good clip type system) clip onto the steel rails in between foam.
The old foam was really cactus!! definately some big butts on that one.will post photo of it soon.
Seat feels more firm and sits slightly higher.
Thanks again to matt! nice little workshop you have.Wish you all the best with it and I will definately try to send some customers your way!!!:)

Cheers George
Wasnt so hard, glad your butt no longer needs to be assaulted by the metal of the seat.
Always good to see your car, its so clean and glad we thrashed out some of the nats criteria.
See you at the next meet :)
