i've never really introduced myself.. i am a gt tdi myo08 owner and glad to join you all!
my gt tdi drives me nuts everytime i drive it
there's this rapid rattle noise from the gear box everytime rev goes above 3000 (brought the car into the dealership 4 times and eventually they changed the gear box and the rattle started again after a week).
and everytime i fully let go of the accel pedal and step on it again, i can hear a short jerk sound, especially when im in higher gears (4th onwards). This just comes across to me as the car not sounding very solid. Is this meant to be normal?
does anyone have the same problems at all?

DSG or manual?
Can you explain the 'short jerk sound' a bit more?
(oh, and hello!)

ey hello haha
Its a dsg,
its a short dull cluck sound, it isnt too obvious if im not concious of it but when i am, it is the most annoying noise.
it almost sounds as though the part joining the wheels is not 1 solid piece with the wheels. so when i let go of the pedal, it feels like the joining device is runing freely from the wheels and when i step on the pedal again, the joining portion hits the wheels to generate a rotation motion. it's hard to explain not being able to regenrate the sound but it is like a turbo lag except that it is an annoying cluck that responds to the stepping on the pedal.
this niggling little problem is spoiling the whole vehicle

and then today, the exhaust warning light came on, in the manual it says not to drive any further and bring it into vw. can these problems all be related to exhaust fault?

Maybe something to do with the DPF regeneration cycle not working correctly ??

Hey there. Excellent choice in car I might add, shame about the gearbox though :nana:
Is the exhaust light you mentioned the particle fliter light? The one with the little dots inside a box? From memory there are two light srelated but I can't seemd to find a picture of them.
I doubt it's the DPF because it has three stages of regeneration before it let's you know something is wrong.
I have a VAG-COM if you are in Sydney

Maybe I can dob Logzy in for a look see? He has a TDI GT with DSG so that might sort you out :)
I say try another dealer because even though experienced vw mechanics maybe better they cna't do warranty work.
A mate of mine had his DPF replaced under warranty. Mine failed once and the dealer just regenerated it for me.
Sometime a good fang cleans it out.

Its a exhaust system fault - water tap looking red warning light

PM him.
He is just a forum member who knows a lot of stuff. He helped us out with our TPMS retrofit.
