After much hardness and annoyance mainly due to NRMA i got my new car, a 91 GTI 5 door off of Loon (thanks for holding onto it for me)

Drove sweet as on the long trip home, didnt miss a beat. Feels a fair bit different to the Mk1 handling wise.

Will post some pics when im home from work.

p.s. Will hopefully have the Wolf3d from my old MkI in it soon and/or a 16v depending on funds.

I went from a mk1 to a mk2 and the main thing i noticed was the power steering! I liked the MK1 better though, felt more "hand on".

Glad you got back ok. Bet it feels like a grown up car in comparison to your Mk1. ;)

If someone had told me i could lower my car a ****load without destroying the ride at all I'd have cried BS but having racked up 100km yesterday with this Weitec set-up I'm amazed!

Feels so much more responsive, love the power steering but I can still feel the road through it which i like. I really like it but there is just something missing for me after only owning two mk1's before. I'm in the process now of money saving and planning future engine mods, I can cure my longing for my mk1 again by making this one go faster then it did ;)

I know what you mean about something missing, although I think my mk2 16v is now just as raw as my old mk1's j:

that one is the same color as mine inside & out
i have had mine for over 12 months now am not getting tired of it in any way
i think they are a really good car to get into as there is a lot of potential to build a number 1 car
when i got this car i was only going to drive it until i rebuilt my mk1, but that soon change
they are a bit lame in standard form, but i think they get to mch bagging, as i do a lot of open road driving & i find on the hwy it will jump from 100k to 140k very fast ,which is good for overtaking & still get around 7L/per 100km give or take abit
that is not to say that i have big plans for a vr6 conversionhttp://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/images/icons/icon6.gif

that is not to say that i have big plans for a vr6

well I got into mine for the first time the other day after driving the VR everyday for the last 7 or 8 months. First impression was I'd left the chain tied to a post. After a day or two though it was all coming back again. The thing points and changes like a dancer. I wouldn't do a thing that might change its balance.

Great to see another one coming back out too

when i first drove mine i was very impressed with the overall balance, even with tired suspension
after putting a set of koni sport & eibach springs the thing seems to be unmovable in corners & feels like a train on tracks, even when its on 3 wheels
the only problerm with doing that is that it makes me want to overhaul every rubber 7 steering part just so i can get the very most out of it

ah well these things happen as we all know

Been lazy and forgot about posting the pics, thanks loon for doing the honours.

I'm thinking im just going to put the wolf 3D in it with some headwork, the 16v seems like a lot of work and i like being an underdog. Also plan a suspension upgrade soon, get it a bit stiffer round corners.
