I've seen a couple of YouTube posts on this and it seems good. Mind if I ask how much it set you back and where you got it?

bazzle,

I am really keen on getting one in my one. I have a R32 07 and really want one as i have the MFD RNS2 and they su3x. Did you fit it in your self. did you buy it from china\how much.

Any tips for the DYI??
How long did it take??

I have been reading alot about it...good reviews, etc. Last quote i had was 455USD.

I am holding back for few months as I have just purchased the car (2 mo ago) and move into a new place, so have bills to pay, but looking at getting one at the end of the year, maybe before..in few months.

Thanks mate..

Just wondering what tipped you guys over to buy the WD6050 vs the AVC9000-1? What are the main differences and especially the sound quality and the ease of use/integration?

By the way, I read before that not all the steering wheel functions work with the WD6050 is this true?

I have a WD6050 (probably built around May 09) - you can use all of the steering wheel functions. Ie: left hand side buttons for volume, right hand side to change channel, next track etc. The MFD will show what mode you are in and the track number etc..

I went with a WD6050 as the main seller on the MkV forum (Oscar) had one going cheap. I still have a few niggles (slight hiss from the unit at low volume, FM reception is not as good as OEM unit)... so Im not 100% happy.

If you are keen on one, I would keep an eye on the thread on the MkV forum and see how people are going with the latest units that have USB input.

I bought mine off Oskar and would still pay the premium to do so. Waywell aren't so great at aftermarket support.

I'm pretty happy with my unit. It's the MK4 one with rear USB input. MFD works well, no issues so far.

I do wish the screen was easier to see in bright sun though. And I wish there was a rear ipod input. And I wish the BT mic was better.

But all in all it's pretty bloody good value.

Is there different versions of the wd6050 unit? and what is the latest? most of the new ones i am guessing have the usb at the back of them. I wonder if the new ones have a mic connector that the back of them as well
