Direct from manufacturer in China, using Paypal. Just emailed them and asked if they'd sell direct - it was no problem.

Have there have been any issues with these units? Have had a read of the links and all seems to be ok, but just wondering if anything has cropped up? Like with obtaining/running software etc. And it's a free bump for the thread!
I haven't had any problems with the unit itself - if you read through the threads on golfmkv you will see a couple of people have, but it mainly appears to be poor soldering on the supplied wiring loom/iPod cable. I haven't had any software problems.
I have made a couple of improvements, such as relocating the Bluetooth microphone to the OEM position next to the map lights, and connecting up a small circuit to match the button lighting to the rest of the car. Most people wouldn't bother - I'm just a bit of a perfectionist. I've also relocated the GPS antenna to the windscreen above the mirror (in the shaded part), so that it is not obvious to passers by but still provides good reception.
Since the above post it has now also become clear that Waywell are not actually the manufacturer. It is manufactured by chinese company Audio Sources, their model number is AS-7301.

Hi MrX,
Can you post a contact / web link of the Audio Sources manufacturer, I want to cut the middle man off and talk to them directly.
Cheers, James

Hi mate, just Googled it and I think this is what you're after :)

Don't forget to let us know what they say.

They will answer your questions, but I don't think they will sell you one direct - unless you are going to buy 50 or 100+
The only options for buying one unit at a time, for us here in aus, are from Waywell, or more expensively, from an Ebay seller in Canada.
At the time mine was $700 delivered to my door, but I think the price has gone up a bit now.

Do all the steering wheel controls work?
I am about to go buy a GTI and i am contemplating whether to get the VW Sat nav RNS510 or an aftermarket model. This looks good but i like to have everything working well together.

Presently only volume, mute & the phone button work. There is supposed to be a revised version coming out soon where the right hand side buttons will be able to be used for changing tracks etc. Not sure if this will also mean song titles etc. in the MFD, but the GPS instructions definately wont appear there. If you want full integration an RNS-510 is the only way to go. (But it's $$$)

The touch screen on the W6050 more than makes up for the minimal mfd functions though :)

Hi guys, long time lurker...
Looking at putting one of these in a Tiguan, which is Golf MkV
The factory reverse sensors display in the standard radio -
What does the WD6050 do with this? Does it display anything?

Guys,
There seems to be a new and improved model available, it has addressed all the silly issues with an external mic and also re-location of the ipod port to the rear.

It looks interesting but I just bought a 6050 because the interface appears cleaner and it's better supported and more likely to have firmware updates available etc.
The 7050 just looks like too much of an unknown.
