I am polishing up some rims and want to clear coat them so that I am not forever buffing them.

Anyone done this themselves? Is it something that needs great care as to not ruin the shine?

I am only doing the faces - obviously - as there is too much work to do but I will clean up the insides and recoat them with silver I think.

Can someone suggest who I should get to do this and any indication of price. Cheers!

you may not be able to. You will need to speak to a painter or an alloy refurb place.

The issue i can see is metal polish almost always leaves behind a protective coating. To remove this the painter would wipe it down with a solvent, most likely prepsol. This will dull your shine so your no better off. Also there may not be anything for the clear to grab.

Like i said though ask a painter, thats just my thoughts. Rims can be painted as almost every factory car now has clear coated rims
