Hi

My name is Ian, just moved here from the uk, brought my car with me, thought i would show you guys some pics and give u some info on it.

Car is an 1985 audi 80 gl, its been in the family since new, it came with a carbed 8v motor in it, but now its got a 6A 2L 16v in it, fully rebuilt, running twin 45 dellortos:D , engine is mostly standard at the moment apart the carbs and the rare aluminum audi sport sump with built in oil coolers, I have a kent adjustable vernier pulley to go when i get round to it,

I have done loads to it, apart from the engine its been lowered F75mm
R50mm on FK suspension,
Audi A6 door handels welded in to the doors,
UR quattro head lamps(detailed black) with Hella hid bulbs + powerpacks,
US spec Audi 4000 rear lights,
Audi sport F&R window rubbers (no chrome trim),
Polished 7.5x16 Momo rims running 195/45/16 Michelin tyres.
Jetex exhaust system with custom down pipe.
all plastic side trim removed.
on the inside i have put in Audi TT front seats(Leather&heated),
Audi A4 centre arm rest,
280mm removable Momo Team steering wheel.(not shown in pics)
Autometer gauges (oil pressure, volts).
future plans include a retrim, and get my brembo brakes fitted(305mm discs/boxster calipers) at the moment they are in the uk .

I also just bought a 3door 88 8v Golf GTI, the one that was advertised in the trader a couple of weeks ago, pics below.

Wow. Cool machine Ian.
I love the door handles, serious amount of effort there
Are they US spec taillights?
Nice seats too!
And a Mk2 3 door as well. Good Score.
Welcome to our forum, hope you stick around :)

Cool...
Did you have any hassles with getting it registered, or is WA pretty slack about those things...

Good work on the 16v too!!!

Welcome to Australia (and the forum).

Audi looks the business – nice list of mods.

Golf also looks tidy – got any big plans for it?

Sweet rides! I'm a big fan of 70's and 80's Audis and yours looks a treat. The Golf should be easy to sell as it would be in demand by enthusiasts. (Pic looks like it's out Malaga way somewhere???)

Did you bring them both from the UK? I thought that personal imports were limited to one per person :???:

I advise tinting of the windows before summer. Perth UV will destroy your interior in short time ;)

Good to see another WA member :)

Thanks,
My fave VAG cars are the 80's ones too,
I only bought the Audi with me, the Golf I bought about 2 weeks ago, found it in the trader, its also a uk import, came to Oz in 95.
Going to get the Audi windows done soon, I keep it in a garage so it should be ok.
and yes the Golf pic was taken in malaga, good guess

It's better (for both yourself and our server space ;) ) to use a free host such as "Photobucket". There you can have any size photo that you want and even scale it. To enable it on the forum you just post a link using the picture icon on the toolbar. See the "User Tips" forum.

Hi

Yep its pretty quick, back in the uk on a old disused private road ;) , on a coldish day i did some speed testing :D with the aid of a stopwatch (very technical i know) i managed a mid 6seconds to 60mph (100kmh)
At 6000 revs in third gear the speedo was reading 100mph (162kmh) into forth and it went of the clock, speedo only goes to 120mph (220kmh).
and i ran out of road:(
i think it would prob do 135-140mph,
it makes an awesome noise at high revs, u cannot beat the sound of twin 45's:D
