Just wondering if anyone here is on bags or knows of anyone in Australia that has bagged a MKIV?

I'm looking at getting my Bora on air suspension but am worried that off the shelf kits won't get the car sitting as low as I would like.

I've got quotes from a couple of shops for 4.5k including fitting, which isn't too bad. But there's no point really if the setup won't go lower than my current one which consists of KW V2 all the way down at the front and custom rear springs.

If you have got pics of an Aussie bagged Bora/Golf - please post pics! And if possible, some details of the bag setup would be real handy too :)

Look at Vortex, that is your friend, notch out the subframe, cut the rear spring perches, there are heaps of ways that you can get your ride even with Coilovers to go lower!

Bit over coilovers. The car is super low at the moment, lowest MKIV on this forum easily. I want to get bags so i can pull into any service station or car park without hassles.

Yeah I've done research on Vortex but a lot of the cars there on bags aren't as low as what mine is right now. A few of them manage to get the front really low but still haven't seen anyone tucking rim in the rear - don't know if they do that by choice because they don't like the look of 'reverse rake'...

Would be awesome to find a complete kit somewhere that gets the car sitting on the ground, or a shop in Aus that has experience in getting this done. Looks like I'm going to have to source a few of my own parts and get a shop to get the rest and fit it all... hassles lol

Should be worth it though :)

I doubt many shops would have experience baggin golfs. That said, anything is possible with the right gear/set up, and plenty of time and money and most of all experience!

Take your time picking a shop, is my advice.

Lol yep seen that one DUB 20V - it's probably about 10mm lower than my car at front and back is around the same. I'm running same wheel size as him. Looks good... but lower would be nice :)

Haha yeah but I'm sick of defect notices and not being able to get into car parks and driveways. Would also be nice to have the car properly insured :)

That's why I'm going to get bags.

in for pics. i'm not the biggest fan of that silver mk4 i think going that low makes the stance look ****e to be honest, especially the rear.

Pics as requested. Took these last night on my phone camera so please excuse the crappy quality. Note the awesome space saver spare fitted to the rear right thanks to running over a nail last week 10 minutes after getting defected for being too low LOL

You can't see all that well in the pics below, but the front tyres are about 10mm inside the guards. I've had the guards lipped and slightly pulled but there's still plenty of rubbing. I'm running 215/35s

That's about as low as I'll get right now. KW V2s maxed out at the front and rear is on bumpstops (haven't cut them).

Tucking 19s :)

Thanks man. The wheels are ASA JH8s - shipped them in from the US. I'll take better pics once the car is all fixed up and bags are in. Give it a month or two!
