Yesterday, cold start in the morning, once I roll out my garage, I got "STOP check Coolant" then the coolant warning light keep on flashing, until I stop the car and then its gone ... until today its not happening again ... check the coolant, no problem with level over the top line, anyone know if i have a fault sensor?

What sort of VW? Where do you live?

I believe the fill from the factory to Oz is near the sensor low limit. If the morning is real cold it may illuminate. As soon as the coolant expands a bit the sensor reads ok.

I assume you opened the bonnet and visually checked the level??

yes i do open the bonnet and check, its a GTI, the only thing i did was open the bottle lid and released some of the gas trapped in there, and the warning light gone ... very weird and hope the sensor is not faulty ...

Was the coolant level significantly above the max level ?

You can also get this warning if engine oil gets into the coolant (says he from bitter experience with his TDI).

This happened to my MY08 Golf GTI 2 weeks ago. Warning light would come on as I reversed out of the driveway, would flash annoyingingly at me for a little while ,then stop. The next day no problem. The next day coolant warning flashed again.
Problem was the coolant sensor...all fixed now!

The coolant sensor is part of the coolant bottle/expansion tank & they do fail from time to time.

Not a big or serious job to do. Even better when the car is under warranty.
