Hi all

Just recently found the site and I have enjoyed reading threads on the new Polo gti. I picked up my new gti on Saturday, having only test driven one several weeks ago. A very impressive little machine for the money with a lot of potential for upgrades.

I've attached a couple of pics.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I am really happy with the car and am looking forward to getting the APR tuning in the not too distant future. Maybe after a few thousand kms running it in.

Sidgti, the rims and new tyres were nearly $3k, I think it was about $440/rim and tyres nearly $300 each, less the trade-in of the standard rims and tyres.

Cheers guys.

The wheels are optional VW, in the Polo gti brochure. Their name is 'Siata'.

I've attached another photo. It's the best I have at the moment. Will try and get a closer shot soon.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion william. That's what makes forums so interesting.

MR-GTI, I managed to crop a picture to give a more detailed look at the wheel. Hope it comes out ok.

i hope u got more than 500 a wheel as we sell them for 500 a rim without rubber we have cutomers on the phone crying saying my hubby is goin to kill me bc i scratched his rims i would cry too at 500 each tyre alone are 400 as low profile and continental

gti2

It was a part of the overall deal i negotiated, which I was really happy with william. The 'bottom line' purchase price, including the new wheels and the other options asked for, was a signifcant saving overall.

There's nothing worse than a kerbed rim, is there?

The rims are 17"s with Toyo proxes tyres. The jury is still out on the tyres as I haven't travelled far on them yet. So far, so good though.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome to the site. I'm really enjoying checking the place out.

It's a shame we all mostly live in different states.

I was hoping to participate in a Polo GTI cruise. :(

PS. On a side note I have now clocked almost 1000kms and i must say the GTI feels like its getting better and better by the km! j:

A menacing look PoloGTi. I like it. What wheels are you putting/have you put on?

Really not sure they have to be 17" to fit the Audi S3 brakes i have for it 312mm Rotors the brakes are a bit crap standered need a bit more bight. I want something gun metal grey or black but so u can see the red calipers.

Cheers.

Hi all,

I am another new Polo Gti (black) owner. Got the car last month, the only thing I've changed is the alloy, 215/40 17". I've noticed the brakes is not as sensitive as before after I put on the rims. I have to press the brake harder to stop the car. Does anyone know why?

Cheers,

Michael

Welcome, Michael.
Any change to the dynamics of the wheels (unsprung weight, aspect ratio, tyre type and compund etc) will affect not just handling but braking too. However I wouldn't have thought that braking would be affected too negatively :???:

Its actually not too bad to keep clean. When it rains the rear is shocking!! But black looks the best when its clean ;)

I took the photo in the back of Norwest near the AAMI building.

P.S. APR is unbelievable.

Flaps, it's a really good photo. Simple and effective background really highlighting the GTI.

Mk3vr6, besides the fact I preferred the look of these wheels over the standard rims, I did note that they would be very easy to keep clean. A definite bonus.

Eddy, glad to hear that you're favourably impressed with the APR reflash on your car, as I am going to have it done on mine in the near future. It's obviously worth the $1750 then.

Cheers

Hoyhoy.
My wife had her first drive in the little girl the other day. Before we took off ,when she wasn't looking I switched it back to stand.-mode. She was impressed, then when she was in a news-agent I switched it back up. After this the wife took off easly in first then hit second & the little girl jumped, the wife of 32yrs said sh-t & start swearing at me The best laugh I had all day.
