View Full Version : Rolled my Golf today..........Way Cool!!!!

Finally rolled the mk1 today. I had been working up to this for weeks and today finished pulling the running gear off, tank out (avoiding poisonous spider – see below) and carefully pulled the lock pins out off the spindles. With a bit of muscle she spun gently over exposing the underside for all sorts of cleaning and welding purposes.

This is the final rotisserie I ended up making. It is based on a SuperCheap engine stand with additional outriggers and braces (Thanks to Smee for the inspiration).

The Cross bar picks up the bumper bar mounts, and bolts to the engine stand on the two uprights (to allow for future height adjustment)

And just when I thought removing the fuel tank was going well, I came face to face with an Ausie icon - the RedBack Spider. Overseas visitors may care to research this little charmer... after all not many venomous spiders have their own song :)

NICE. :D Good Use of Supacheep. That would have made my tank removal a bit easier. :roll:

wow, thats a serious spider! glad we dont have those little beasties down her. awesome work on the rotisserie :D

hence the' red back spider rally team' was born!!!!!!hope you will never have to say those words again "rolled the mk1 today" ..good luck with the project..can hear those stones signing a tune under the gaurds at full noise..espeacially the marbles in canberra..cheers steve

Talking of peoples cars Steve , your car was in Auto Action a couple of issues ago (a picture of it that is)
If I don't get sued I'll post a copy (scan) Its an old black and white photo at Bathurst.

thanks golfwise would like that....hope to return it to original colur scheme with period stickers etc ...just to keep a theme..cheers steve
