Ive got an 85 golf2 1800 carburatored car it runs realy well and get 500 to 600 km per tank, it has very good compression perhaps too good 200 to 205 psi all cyls
the problem is the car blows smoke sometimes when it takes off but never fouls plugs Im leaning towards valve stem seals hopefully not rings
can any one give me a hint on diagnosing the fault :?:

You're leaning the right way. Get the valve guides done and the seals. Maybe the valve stems are worn as well. Won't cost much.

Yep on the ball there.
They generally don't have ring trouble.The compression rings usually go before the oil rings .99 percent head.
