Alrighty folks.

Cruising (and BBQ) season is upon is, so to welcome the warmer weather we'll be having our annual Maroondah Dam cruise as our first offical social summer event!

When: Sunday, December 7

Time: 10am for a 10:30am departure!

Place: Meet at Albert Park (usual meeting point) to drive second Meet point* then onto Maroondah Dam.

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2007/10/albertparkmeetspot-1.jpg

What: BBQ lunch, driving in the hills, and hanging out with VWW friends! Wash your car just incase someone takes some photos too!

Bring: Full tank of petrol, camera, females (fingers crossed), other friends, UHF radio (if you've got one), food.**

Food: BYO Meat! I will be bringing bread for snags, Ben's bringing sauce, and it would be nice if a few people bring chips, soft drink, snacks etc to share around. There is a Supermarket just near Maroondah Dam, in Healsville, should anyone forget to buy meat, or don't want to bring an esky along etc.

*Second Meet Point:* The second meet point is at the home maker centre off Maroondah Hwy, just past Springvale Rd. Turn right at the lights and head into the carpark, taking another right towards JB HIFI and the Good Guys. The link shows where people should meet. Be ready to leave at 11am SHARP from this meet point. So get there earlier! The link:

I'll turn up, would meet somewhere near ringwood if your heading down the eastern? What is the route from albert park?

From albert park, it'll probably be a bit of city stuff, then out on the eastern to maroondah way.

We'll concrete finer details closer to the date, dependant on final numbers/meet points etc.

A number of us have driven the whole route before, so I'm sure we wont get lost.

Ben_GTI
04-11-2008, 05:18 PM
Albert Park >> Lorne St? >> Hoddle St >> Eastern >> Springvale Rd >> Whitehorse Rd

Is the usual route.

well put us down for a maybe... is mother-in-law's birthday that day... so will have to see if we can wrangle something for her on the sat.... and as a special treat on her birthday we might give her baby sitting duties... :)
if we turn up we will be in either the jetta, polo or new beetle cabrio. and if we are going we might bring a friend in her new beetle.

I am in Mulgrave... was going to suggest a meet closer to home but ill drive down to AP instead.

Big Yellow
07-11-2008, 11:04 AM
If the cruise heads down Whitehorse Rd/Maroondah Hwy, I might just meet up along there at a specific time/place.

Who knows, might end up at the AP meet point.

Terence

Ben_GTI
07-11-2008, 01:32 PM
It'll be going down whitehorse rd if we follow the route from last time. We had 2 meet points, one at Albert Park, the other at harvey norman up the maroondah highway somewhere. See what route gets mapped out, but I'm sure you'll be able to going in along the way.

Jarred
07-11-2008, 05:10 PM
Terence, Josh and I are in in mt Waverly/Burwood, so so if you want to drive out with us to Albert Park in the morning, you're more than welcome. Besides, it's only a 25min drive to Albert Park. (we usually go straight down toorak Rd then down by the yarra)

If more people want a second meet point, we can organise that too. probably will be off maroondah hwy, but depends on whose meeting there etc.

Tim
07-11-2008, 06:22 PM
id prefer a second meet point
i value that extra 30 minutes sleep these days :P

I hope you've all registered this cruise with the police to make it all legit?

Don't want to do anything wrong now.

What about registering the date & time of the bbq with the local council!

Anyone out there have a food handling licence, cause the health & safety reg's are getting tighter by the minute!.

Remember kid's.

BBQ's are bad for you too & you all may implode due to how crap the food is!

Right now I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but let me set the record straight. As a group of friends meeting together to have a good time, all of the above doesn't apply. If this were an event sanctioned by an organisation who were ultimately responsible for the outcomes, then I agree. By way of comparison, as an individual citizen I may arrange for a group of 20+ friends to attend a BBQ at my house or public area where they are responsible for cooking their own food. Whatever happens on the 7th of December will be no different.

vwwatercooled is not a club or organisation, vwwatercooled is only an internet forum where its individual members are responsible for their actions and their actions alone.

Like I said, if you're being sarcastic, when it comes to issues with legal implications there is a very fine line which should not be tested. It provides undue risk for all of our friends who come along.

Tom

This is not directed at you Tom. Just using your quote

I'm not actually upset about not being able to have a bbq believe it or not, as was explained to me.

I'm more pissed about mentioning bbq & the absolute stupid mentality of these ****head's who are going on about health issue's, regulation's, commercial aggreement's, food vendor's responsibilites, exclusive right's, public liability & it's bad for your health ****!

IT'S A ****ING BBQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I've offended anyone.

Please take a ticket & get in line.

You'll all get a chance to s@^# me off!

I now know what I'm doing this sun.

I'm going to fire up the barbie, break every EPA, food, health & safety law in the book.

Hope I'll get $100+K in fines.

Then, hopefully I'll choke on a hamburger & have a heart attack (cause bbq's are bad for you) & die.

Then I won't have to listen to this dribble anymore.

See you all in the next life time. Don't be late!

Have we decided on a second meet point for the guys that live out in the east? Im still a fan of the harvey norman carpark in nunawadding cos its on the maroondah hwy so its easy to just cruise down to the dam from there.

I think so far there are only 2 people that want to meet out there.

I'm going to drive the route this coming week, so I'm sure on where I'm going.

Are the people that want to meet out east happy to meet at the Harvy normal carpark?

i think thats best. its how we have done it in the past. If all else fails there is a supermarket thats open on sundays just up the road.

just in reference to the second meet point. the main reason I like the idea is that getting a large group of people through the city and onto the eastern is always an ordeal!

yeah that was a pretty sore sight carl! are u sure it happened in the carpark though? its strange that your car would have been targeted like that. Its not the most conspicuous amongst us? Just doesnt make sense to me. Really low act either way.

I'm guessing too much horsepower, not enough ability.... :wasntme:

Lol I'm not even chipped, how rude! Jarred inspired me!! (Yea its alright to keep on the Polo GTI cracks, because we all know that it only happened because I was overtaking an ariel atom on the corner.):nana:

Nah it was a case of touching a bit of gravel on the outside edge of the road with the back already too far around to compensate. The back hit first which kicked the front it. Real bugger it did that because I could've just swapped out the spare rim then!!

Tim was in front of me and we tend to take different lines through the corners so he was alright and avoided the gravel... I wasn't not so lucky hahaha.

I got off pretty lightly as far as I can tell.

yeah I dont want anyone to get the wrong idea here. Its not like we were breaking any speed limits or anything. I was in front just setting a fun yet restrained pace as I do have a social conscience.
A good lesson for us all I think that it really doesnt take a lot for things to go sour.

I wish I were driving behind you Tim keeping things at a safe and legal speed instead of overtaking irritating 4WD's who insist on spoiling people's sunday drives.

Me & Dom were actually suprised at the cruising speed of everyone.

Was a very sedate cruise which is nice for a change. I was following Tim in the first section & was just cruising. Was good fun.

Never been up that way before & loved it. Road's were very sticky too, but they would have to be for all the motorbikes.

Can't wait for the next one.

Yea totally agree, the motorbikes that flew past got done for speeding and didn't look too happy. As Tim said, you can have plenty of fun without speeding.

One little change in the road conditions can make quiet a big difference in the outcome hehehehe. My wheels agree.

I still can't believe why Carl's car got done.... Doesn't make any sense at all. The saddest part is, even if it were payback its meaningless because no-one knows who did it. People like that really piss me off.

Dont worry it adds 10kw. Maby not 10 because it not as long or as deep as mine but youll feel it on the freeway. ;)
