Generally if water temperature moves, there is a big problem. :-)
Engine oil getting hotter is a normal phenomena. :-)
Should come to normal operating temperature once back on usual speeds and RPM.

105degrees isn't a problem for the oil temp
125+ is when you want to start worrying. :)
Little secret for ya mate as does most other VW now the gauge is designed to run slap bang in the middle at 90. NOw it is running a bit hotter than that but is designed as a comfort not to scare the driver, it really does fluctuate a bit but remains steady on the dash. So rule of thumb is if that gauge creeps up a noticeable amount from 90 then you will have a problem. Should always remain right in the centre. Ok your oil thing is right mate and really the temo would have climbed marginally but not on the dash if you are with me. Your Thermostat is fully open at 105degress but remember you have a pressurised system therefore the boiling point is raised. Plug in Vag Com and when your dial is at 90 VAgcom will be around 98-105 and all is well.

If you want to read actual water temps, install something like a ScanGauge. I noticed mine would rise to 95+ on climbs....but the stock gauge moved not at all. ScanGauge also gives you intake temps, plus a range of other stuff.

I remember I was sitting in maccas drive through once, and i looked back at the dash... i saw the water temp dropping from around 95 back down to its normal 90. I stared at the gauge constantly for a while after... i've never seen it over since.
I had no idea how long it was above, but i was the strangest thing to see as like u say, its never moved before.
