I have heard of a Mk1 Polo, perhaps the only one in Oz for sale in Melbourne. It has rust in some panels and needs a respray, but is basically sound. It was a racecar and has a cage in and some other mods.
The owner wants $500. I was gonna get it and restore her, but I have too many VWs. Anyone else want a crack at her? She comes with parts, spare engine and other stuff. Pics soon. Expressions of Interest?

Are they the ugly ones like a shortened Passat.
I'm always interested in something unusual.Got a pic of one, not this one but a good one.Us Aussies have never seen one in the flesh.Sad !!!!!
Would love a Scirocco 1 or early Jetta (2 door)
Had a 81 Jetta once ,its still around so I might get it back one day.

I dont know that I`d call it ugly. It looks like a Mk1 golf, only smaller. i had one back in the UK and it was great. You could bolt a 1.4 16v polo motor straight in!

Apparently it hasn`t got a cage, but has a long cams history.

Hi Guys I'm the guy that owns the Polo in question.

The car was originally brought into the country back in 1976 I believe, by Melbourne city based VW dealer for his daughter after she returned from a trip to Europe. The car was registered in Melbourne up until about the mid eighties I believe. A mate bought it un registered but never bothered roadworthing and getting the rego renewed. It sat around for three years. It was then past onto another mate that then raced it in various club events for the past 8 years or so ie motorkanas circuit racing, and kanacrosses, and often won his class its currently a 900cc engine, and races with 998cc minis which it eats, as it is sooo light. (The car I believe can be re registered as it was previously registered with the 700cc motor mentioned below in Victoria).

The car's rough, and needs body work, it's mechanically great, theres no cage, it comes with a spare 700cc motor and gearbox, spare clutch, two new front rotors, and lots of spare parts. I took on the car with the plan to add it to my 76 Mk1, 76 Mk1 Scirroco, Buy a 76 two door Passat TS, and the 76 Polo would complete the set. But I have now lost interest, If your interested Ring me on 03 9439 2334 or Mob 0409 439 315.

This thread goes back to 2005 mate.

I actually ended up buying the polo and bringing it to sydders. It needed lots of work and my friend thought it was a good idea to leave it on a hill at his farm with the handbrake off. It rolled down into a gulley and ended up round a tree.

Long since crushed.
