I suppose there won't be many who have mudflaps fitted to their Golfs (Golves?), but I have just bought them from our friendly VW Dealer for around $80. Picts at the moment of the kits, I may be fitting tomorrow.

Front with raised VW logo.

Make sure you have the right ones. I have some fronts here for the later model with the skirts which won't fit the wifes car. You didn't get my PM last week?:?

Got it thanks Andrew, replied to it....

I think if I enlarge the LHS hole a bit, it may fit better. I should email Volkswagen Australia, but I wouldn't get a reply!!

Maris, when I was waiting for my mk5 GTI, VWA wouldn't answer any enquries that I sent them! The one answer I did get was rubbish, saying that every GTI for the whole planet (their words!) was built in south Africa! Crazy!!! :D

Fitting the front flaps. Turn the wheel so that the nut is accessible.

Check the fit....OOPS, it needs the side skirts. The pack said GL '96, but these are for a VR6!!!! Bugga.

The front mudflaps finnally arrived lst week, forth time right! Tried to fit them yesterday, but each of the two tools I needed, were missing in action, so I bought more!

The only tools required, 8mm socket & multigrips.

Look at the amount of dirt & leaves I removed from behind the plastic liner.

Mud flaps never appealed to me before on the subject of appearance, but I must say with the textured rear bumper valence, it actually looks alright!

I love the rear mudflaps! You've sone a fantastic fitting job. The white VW symbol stands out and looks good. Hmmm..... Might look ok on mine?

How much was it for just the rears Green T4?

Cheers!

I paid $80-85 for front & rear, so, roughly half each. The rears do stick out a bit (like Elephant ears), but that means they should work better.

Just watch when reverse parking... I found on mine they were pretty easy to scrape on kerbs, my ex did a great job roughening up the edges. Amazing VW still sells these, I had a set like this on my GL in '96.

I bought a new set for my Candy White GL in '95!

I have had my flap on for many years now...

They work really well in stopping grime on the sides of the car.

Note#1
going over speed hump too fast and you will scrape the front flaps.

Note#2
If your Mk3 is lowered, then I suggest you cut a strip off the bottom of the front flaps upto the bottom of the VW logo... you will still scrape going over humps etc... you will also have less drag as you cut off the bottom lip that faces forward that will cup air and water when it is raining.

Worst thing is catching them on the speed hump rebound and landing the flaps on the top of the speed hump :(
