Hi all
Just joined after watching for a while. Compete in rallies in Victoria in a Panama Brown 1977 GLS Golf. Seam welded and strenghtened, full cage, velo seats, adjustable Koni shockers,King springs,Cibie lights, alloy sump guard and all the usual rally stuff inside the cabin. Running a standard LS engine and gearbox and standard brakes except for GTI calipers with the bigger pads and steel braided hoses. Use AP racing brake fluid and a adjustable rear anti lockvalve as well as a hydraulic handbrake. Member of the Historic Rally Association so we do all the HRA events and some VCRS events. Done 10 events in the last year and a bit and finished them all. Could do with more HP and better ratios but we are having heaps of fun and love the Golf. My daughter drives a 76 LS 2 door and we have a Red Mk 4. Just started work on another Mk 1 to do autocross, hillclimbs, motorkhanas bla bla bla. Any more motorsport Golf people out there.
Geoff

Welcome to the forum mate!

There's a few of us on here genuinely interested in motorsport.. I'm currently building a road registered Mk1 4 door with a 1.9 16v for some club motorsport etc.

Hi all
Thanks for the welcoming.Live bayside in Melbourne.
A few photos of the car for those interested
I would have to admit that I'm not really computer savvy so I'm still getting a handle on navigating my way around this site.

Hey Geoff,

Thats a very nice example of a Mk1 rallycar. Very impressed.

And best of all... It's a 4 door!

Don't worry, the site isn't too bad to navigate once you get used to it.. :)
