hey guys, ive got a Seat Cordoba GLX 96, and i love the shape and style of the car but its a weak to tell u the truth, so im planning a project which over 3-4 months, to swap engines. i wanna ask you guys should i go for VR6 like golf loon did with his ibiza(nice work btw), or get some sort of a 4 cyclinder turbo?
im happy to get a VR6 but due to high petrol prices im think i iwll die in the long run.
what should i do???

VR6 isnt that bad on juice unless you really beat on it.

VR6 makes the best noise, but is the most work to fit.
Autos are too slow, go manual, which will help your fuel consumption.
If you cant do it yourself, stop dreaming, as the conversion costs for someone else to do it will be crippling.

Do you want to spend more than the car's worth because you will. Sell it and buy a Golf VR6!

well i hae saved 10k for the project, but will go over by 2k if need be. the reason why i wanna do this is i love european cars and knowing all my mates have got Hondas and did conversions for their cars i wanna show them i cna do the same with mine, labour is all good cause 75% will be all me ive got 2 pits saved at my friends service centre and ive found a VR6 and we wants 2.5k for the engine.

is that 2.5K for engine and gearbox? cos u will need both and all the associated cable shift and hydraulic clutch bits

Dont buy an engine and box, buy an entire vr6 wreck, park it next to the Cordy and keep swopping bits till it works.

Otherwise you will be back to the wreckers 10 times for other bits. and the price will soar.

Wise words from someone who has done that. Take golf loons advice.:)

x3 - complete donor car or not worth it. You can also sell the bits you don't use: my $3,500 write-off donor car ended up costing me nothing and I used most the parts :D
