As mentioned in this (http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/showthread.php?t=20858) thread, I had some dress-up parts arriving for the Bora(t). I'm happy to say that my puffy yellow envelope arrived today and the swaps for these parts could not have been easier.

I ordered a replacement stubby aerial, a set of smoked indicator lenses and a blacked-out OEM grille badge.

Apologies in advance for the craptacular phone pics but you get the idea.

First up was the aerial swap, which took all of 30 seconds. Choice.

Take one mangled OEM aerial

Source solid billet aluminium replacement

A few drops of synthetic chain lube to condition the threads and aerial base

Next up were the smoked indicator lenses. Mmmm... pur-itty.

As prepared by our friends at VAG

Push gently (or not) from the front of the lens towards the rear of the vehicle...

... and if you've done it right it should look something like this. No, really.

Grab the new lenses

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l1/Il_dottore/VW/Image027.jpg

Gently twist off the bulb holder seals and attach the new items

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l1/Il_dottore/VW/Image028.jpg

Push the lens back into the quarter panel, like so

Marvel at your handywork and the clean new look, and revel in the fact that you've managed not to break something for a change

Thinking of colour-coding the grille and badge to remove the silver highlights.

I've not yet checked, but can anyone confirm that the silver 'piping' ^^^^ around the car is something that can be easily removed, then replaced after painting?

its odd that the stubby antenna does not sit flush on the stock housing. i just recently bought the OEM Sharan stubby antenna from dubaddiction and it fits perfectly on and looks as if it was always there. its shorter and a bit fatter than that one and cost me $23 to my door. where did you source that one from??

those indicators look the goods mate...any pics of the grill badge??

Looking good mate. You've just got to love modifications that just work. Where did you order all your parts from?

I'd have preferred it fit perfectly but it seriously tidies up the line and look of the car and I have suffered absolutely no loss of clarity or reception.

I really like the way the indicator lenses turned out. Both fit snugly although the driver's side seems to fit like OEM, the other side a little less so?

A pic of the grille badge is here (http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/showpost.php?p=219823&postcount=18).

Thanks dubbed

I got these parts from DUBSTOP International in Boston (MA).

Visit them here at http://www.dubstopimports.com/ or alternatively http://stores.ebay.com.au/DUBSTOP-INTERNATIONAL

All these parts only cost me (wait for it) USD53 landed. Which, when I ordered them, was less than AUD60 including delivery.

Holy crap! That's an awesome price!! I hope the dollar goes up a bit more before I make my order from the US.

Thanks for the reply by the way :) Oh, and PM me when you want to sell the indicators - I am planning to buy some from the US with the other parts.

Just checked this afternoon and the trims are both glued and fastened into the bodywork.

May have to mask and paint while still on the car?
