good on you. The wait is worth it but frustrating. White looks great. Are you going to colour code it? You have seen the pics that I have posted, haven't you? I hope the wait works out less for you. Cheers, Andrew :)

Great to see such a good mix of old and new motors on this forum these days. White looks lower side on for some reason. Top choice

And evo, you being the resident wheel man on the forum, the 17s look bigger on the white mk5s than the red for some reason. Not real sure why...

Not too sure whether i will colour code it, the pics you posted did look good though!
Will probably opt for the BBS CH's too :-D They just suit the Golf to a 'T' especially when painted black on a white car, hehe.

You're going to love it! I've only had mine (Tornado Red 07 model) for 4 days and you can't wipe the grin off my face. Did you get Manual or DSG?
I've found the DSG in "Sport Mode" to be very potent. As fun as my WRX ever was. The "chipped" cars (if they are that much quicker) must be scary :)

I thought seriously about white for my TDI (the only non-metallic colour available :???: )
Andrew's colour coding looks excellent. It's on the agenda for me (when the $s situation gets a bit healthier ;) ) or I might do it myself.

Hi. There are heaps of pics of my GTI and a customers white one in my posts. Mainly in the photos section. The last ones i think are in the topic, "gtigrl took me shopping today". There are many pics of our GTIs on here. That was what Brackie was relating to and there is no reason why you couldn't do it with a TDI or other. It should have been an option, for sure!
Cheers, Andrew :) :)

I got a manual, i'm just old fashioned. Even if it is a little bit slower :-)

Just out of curiosity how many dollars are we looking at for the colour coding?? Did you guys use factory paint or did the spray painter match it up??

We got a backyarder to do them here in Hobart. He did the skirts and bumpers in a filler spray to get rid of the grain and matched the colours perfectly. Used special paint and charged us $ 600 all up for both of the GTIs. Not a lot of profit there.....:)

I don't know how much you will pay over thee. We were very lucky to find this guy. The finish is high gloss, the same as the rest of the cars. Looks very factory and shoud have been!!! :)

pologti is currently having his bonnet painted black in the centre profile. That is a Polo of course but it might look interesting. :)

Bloody hell, that's no good. Do you have a VIN yet?

nah haven't heard anything yet, I did order an 07 built car though. Might give the stealers a ring this week and see if they have heard anything.

Once you've got the VIN you can get onto the shipping company's website and track where the car is all the way from the plant. I knew the name of the ship and the date of it's arrival in Brisbane port before it had even left South Africa. Pretty cool I thought.

Absolutely.

I loved it being able to track the MINI as well. Our GTI was unloaded in Sydney the day we placed our deposit.

Here's the tracking screen grab from the 3dr GTI that was at the Sydney Motor Show...
