Hi all, newbie needs help!
Currently own a mk1 77 thanks to Luke how!
has been happy sailing until a recent mishap where the bolt holding the left wishbone and sway bar decided to pop out (main st. Launceston at 5pm :wasntme: :biggrin: ) new bolt in, I make it around the first corner on my way to work and inner cv collapses, broke the bearing cage in half!
oh well, on the phone to the mk1 King: Ed C and a new one's in the mail.
After installing I realise the cv boots aren’t re-usable :duh:
At this stage I was loosing confidence in the old beast, so took it down to pedders for a quick check, to make sure another wheel isn't going to fall off!
Now here is where I need some advice:
Shocks are buggered, that’s fine but what should I get? after something better than pedders!
Rear right spring actually touches the tire sometimes, while the left has at least an inch gap? no idea?
Steering rack has excess movement/wear, serviceable or replace and how hard?
Disk break pads are actually rattling in there mounts? still got plenty of wear on them.
finally, wheel bearings are loose - what else can I expect, or should I replace or upgrade while I'm at it?
I realise I can only blame myself, it is obviously not set up for a daily and that's all I’ve used it for, so any help on getting it back to a daily would be awesome!
I'm thinking its time to take it off the road and fix everything properly!
