Hey everyone.

I was just thinking back to when my brother owned a pulsar with the SR20 motor in it.
I remember the first time he took me for a drive in it, he put his foot down and i couldnt believe the sound it made.
He told me he had drilled a few holes in his airbox  lol.

Has anyone ever considered drilling a couple nasty big holes in the bottom of front side of their airbox? to get a big of extra whistle? :P

Hahahahahaha...I thought about it, but not for sound. I was going to run a length of flexi tube into it from the front of the car.

I had an exhaust leak, it doesn't sound very nice. Then again, mine was right next to the turbo.

Ive actually been thinking about unhooking one of the coils and removing my airbox completely.

So my car will sound like a wrx :duh: lol.

No but seriously. Three or four 20mm holes would make it sound alright ! haha right?!

Yeah Mitch ... you can be the guinea pig. Then you can tell us about resale and how you explain the 'borer' holes in the airbox. :duh:

Mitch,

You could you use CAI tube connected front the air filter box to front end of the car. :D

this is what my mechanic was telling me he wanted to do to my car but i was a bit unsure about it. he said he had done the same to an MkIV Golf GTI and it sounded awesome - louder turbo whine and more aggresive exhaust note.

Rotfl 20mm, Keep going mate! your looking at more like one entire quarter of the bottom of the box to get the sound you want. You'll just keep chopping and drilling away until you get the sound you, by that point the airbox would have had it! Have a look at some of the MK3's they have some pretty good DIY's, I had it on my 3 until I got sensible and made the shielded K&N pod.

then your gonna have to cut out about 1/3 to a 1/2 of the bottom out of the base of the intake, theres a guide in MK3 DIY section which just shows how much material needs to be removed. Follow that and you'll be well on your way to terrifying pensioners and family pets!

If you want noise from the intake run a pod filter. Awesome sound.

Bear in mind that after 25mins in traffic you will start to lose power as heatsoak gets to it.

Been there and done that.
