Hi all,
Just noticed in the traffic in Melb what appeared to be a Tiguan R2?...well I think that's what it was. Does anybody know anything about this model? It was quite sporty looking with quite large alloys. Could it be a 'R32' type model of the Tiguan?
Cheers,
Scott

i can't open that link cos our work has an internet blocker on unfamiliar sites  but is this it?
i read about this Tiguan R-Line a few months ago, it appears that it will only be out with a diesel donk...not too sure the reasoning behind this. maybe they are keeping the 'larger' .:R models diesel like the Touareg .:R50 V10 TDi.

Hmmm.....
Perhaps you have spotted a prototype
Was there more than one ? and what colour was it ?
Most likely it could be VW Personnel testing the Tiguan R Line Kit but it could have been an R20.
The R Tiguan is rumoured to have the 2.0 TDI donk in it but tuned up.
Pity you did not get a picture :duh:

I'm not a big fan of how car manufactures do this. Diluting the badge by creating option kits really bugs me. :duh:
They should keep the R, M, S and other badges exclusively for the all out models and create a new name for the mildly sporty models with a bodykit, suspension tweak, bigger wheels and maybe a mild engine tune. :frown:

My guess is that it's a standard Tiggy with the option spoiler kit fitted. VWAUS has been behind with the release of Tiggy spares, (ask a dealer for floor mats!) and the new accessories are most likely been/being tested for a late release.
Needless to say, Unless it has the motor to go with it, it's not worth the money in my opinion.
Cheers,
Phil
Are you sure it wasn't a Touareg?
I have seen a Blue R50 in Edgecliffe twice now, parked outside a cafe.

Unfortuately it was a fleeting glance whilst I was on the tram.
There was only one, and the colour was blue. It looked more like a Tiguan per the link I attached than a Touareg. But I honestly can't be 100% certain as it was a very brief glance.

Cool ;)
I thought it was weird VW testing in Australia they haven't done that since the 60s :duh:
Interestingly several UK news sources have run articles on this Tiguan R line in the past week or so...
seems it will finally be released over there this summer.
No new engine though.

interestingly a Aust site picked it up... but looks like the exact same copy with no mention of a local release... unless someone has heard something?

VW (dealer) said to me no R Tiguan, but you can order the optional sports body kit now. Makes it look like the R-Line Tiguan overseas
Wait for it .... about $5000 fitted ..... so I said no thanks ...:)

As in the optional accessories page in the Tiguan brochure. Looks almost just like the R-Line kit. Have a look .....
I read in one of the reports that it has modified suspension. Anyone know what this is?

One of the new options is what I believe they call "adaptive" suspension, one of the Norwegian guys on http://www.mytiguan.com/ has it I think. Allows some degree of ride altering I believe but not actual ride height.
Update: Just found it and he is from Switzerland not Norway http://www.mytiguan.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=5831&p=45804&hilit=adaptive#p45804
Cheers
Thanks NZ, you're a wealth of information! :)
