good news, i think i will have time for a run after all

where r we going, did u guys think of anything yet, Matt?

petrol is goin cheaper, so i think we should use the opportunity and have a longer run, im a big fan of the rood and scenery down the Jewelan caves way, if ur up for it, we should get on rood earlier than last time so we can get there around noon, have a lunch and a drink maybe while enjoying the scenery and clean air, head back home the same way we got there
theres plenty of places to stop and take few shots and all that

just a suggestion

cheers

if u sell it just before the cruise thats just the worst luck men, good luck with it anyway

ok...
route:
M4, i usually get on at Olympic Park,
all the way past the 3 sisters,
another hour and a half maybe from there and u get to this really old hotel, and it sits in between the mountains
its just beautiful, u have to see to know what im talkin about

sorry, i misspelled it, its Jenolan caves

heres a map

Thats quite a long run man.
Could we go along the m4 to penrith and up through the mountains? Or maybe go back that way.
Thatd be 5 hours driving surely?
What does everyone else reckon?

smithy010
16-09-2006, 09:50 AM
Could go up the mountains, stop in blackheath or Mt vic, take the darling causeway and bells line home?

Jenolan caves is really quite nice... i can vouch for that, but it's a fairly long way.

deemoE36
16-09-2006, 12:37 PM
yeah, it is a bit of a drive to jenolan caves

central coast is an option, what u reckon of that

Thats a good run.

I spoke to Frank, the guy with the 16v Mk2 today and we said that we both thought Jenolan caves was too far, and so is the Central coast.

Its too hard to organize 30 people on a long run and no-one wants that much driving.

How about an 11am meet at liverpool, away by 12 and in the mountains by 1.30. Home by 5?

dvw16v
17-09-2006, 11:34 PM
i reckon we do the same run as last time taking same route but this time stop where there is food available perhaps a cold drink too its not so much bout the drive but more bout people gettin together shootin da breeze and da pics of course but thats just my opinion

Golf Loon
18-09-2006, 08:13 AM
Thats a good idea mate, but someone needs to suss the area for somewhere to stop. We need lots of parking, which is the hard bit.

That was a good run though.

I havent even got a car to come in, Id have to borrow the girls Passat.

23-09-2006, 08:33 AM
Its hard to get responses, isn't it? I feel for you guys. A few of you have tried your hardest to get this thing running and I know. So many people sit on their hands when it comes to the crunch. Your last run was successful so whats the problem? I am having the same problem, getting responses and help down here for the video night. :?
Don't lose interest though, I will be coming up there one day and I would be more than happy to catch up with the interested ones in the Sydney area.
Cheers, Andrew :) :(
Keep the scene alive. (if you can!)

Golf Loon
23-09-2006, 10:42 AM
The scene is alive Andrew never fear, but I have had loads of people cancel in the last few days. Might just be the wrong timing for it. You better look us up when you are in Sydney :)

I feel that I`m just pushing people to go and its a bad weekend for me too, Mrs expecting any day and I have the wrong car. I do still have the Beeza deemo, but I have taken a deposit on it and its not leaving my driveway, untill the new owner takes delivery. I`d hate it to get hurt on a cruise.

OK UPDATE

I have just spoken to everyone in my phonebook and we are gonna downgrade to a meetup. If people want to go for a cruise after, thats cool, but no pressure. If not, we`ll drink a beer and go home to our wives and girlfriends ;)

We meet at KrispyKremes Liverpool tomorrow 11am.

List so far of people I have spoken to who are coming.

ME - Passat VR6, Brenton as Co-pilot, his VR6 is unregistered!
Steve - Passat Wagon
Gaston - Mk1, resprayed and lovely.
Tass - Mk2, If he fixes the fuelpump in time
Edison - Mk1 original and stock, see you there.
Tommymac - Smick Mk2 with new Vr6 interior
Oliver - Mk3 GTI 16v
Drago - Bora
DemoIII - Sick looking Mk3
Kosta - "New" Mk1, or Fully Sick Audi?
Frank - 16v Mk2
DubstarMk2 - Golf 2 Daily Driver, if he finishes work in time

Raymond? Igor? Steve?
Syncro?
82cab ?
Matt and Corrado?
Phil - Mk1 Cabrio?

Anyone else?????
Please confirm or see you there. Can someone gee up the Tex boys?
Looking like a good turn up in the end.

Sounds like an expensive repair on the tranny Loon. What a bugger. Bet your popular back home mate? :(

Golf Loon

Gaston Brought his sweet Mk1

http://img6.picsplace.to/img6/26/thumbs/P3110006.JPG (http://img6.picsplace.to/img.php?file=img6/26/P3110006.JPG)

Frank brought his 16v Mk2 and Edison came in his Diesel, the first Diesel to come on one of our cruises. Good Work Mik.

Sorry none of the pics came out of your cars guys.

It was Bloody Hot at this time.

THEN This happened....

http://img6.picsplace.to/img6/26/thumbs/P3110008.JPG (http://img6.picsplace.to/img.php?file=img6/26/P3110008.JPG)

Auto transmission cooler had a pinhole in it AAARGH.

But a group effort later and we screwed a screw into the hole and some sealastic, should get me home??

THEN Gaston broke a wire off the starter on his Mk1 and Edison was there with the electrical repair kit! NICE

http://img6.picsplace.to/img6/26/thumbs/P3110010.JPG (http://img6.picsplace.to/img.php?file=img6/26/P3110010.JPG)

Then a couple of Push Starts for Edisons Diesel, to the accompanyment of heaps of black smoke and engine knock and he was away too.

I got about 8kms up the road and the auto was slipping something chronic, I pulled into the servo and this happenned :

http://img6.picsplace.to/img6/26/thumbs/P3110012.JPG (http://img6.picsplace.to/img.php?file=img6/26/P3110012.JPG)

It appears that the auto cooler must have ruptured on the inside too, as transmission fluid was circulating through the water channel and presumeably water through the auto.

Wasnt much I could do, we went home on a Tow Truck.

Wont be fixing the auto, will either convert to manual, or scrap it.

A good team effort from the guys, shame about the ****box VWs.

Is the mk3 16v the import or the vr6 conversion???

Golf Loon
25-09-2006, 06:00 PM
It was a VR6 with a stuffed motor and box, and the imported frontcut was short a couple of cylinders, so ended up as a GTI :)

Thanks guys.
I poured 4L of dexron into it on Monday and flushed it out and changed the Oil cooler. It is currently working ok.
I am gonna drive it to Canberra today to get a new T4 engine, so fingers crossed.
I just want it to last a month so I can get all the bits together for the manual conversion, then I dont care if it breaks!
I`ll keep you posted.

don't keep us in suspense! :o !!!!!!!!!!!did it make it???????

Golf Loon
28-09-2006, 09:02 PM
Yes. I have returned triumphant with everything needed to repair the T4 and manualise the Passat.

Thanks to Peter at the CVWC ;) Had a sweet drive of the 20v Caddy too PHEW

The Passat did pretty well, Cruise control set a 117 all the way. Did 10.3 L per 100 according to the MFA. Still too high for my liking, but at least it made it :) :) No speeding tickets thank God. Had to go today, as it is double demerits from tomorrow.

I`m going to the shed now, I may be some time!
